Okay, we are scheduled for Port Orleans - Riverside June 10 - 17. Today, I got the dreaded call that we have to move. (And just about everyone else, so they said!) Now, I only have two choices, well actually three. One is to move to the Carribean Beach - which we are. And the others are Grand Floridian for another $2000.00 or the Wilderness Cabins for another I can't remember. Now these are my only two choices, what happen to all of the other upgrades? I was told that they are sold out COMPLETELY. That leads me to my other topic - I didn't think the first part of June would be that busy. I knew towards the end of our visit that it would really pick up. Okay you June people, are they kidding me? We usually go in May.

Now another topic! Sorry! So we always take our mugs back to the resorts. I asked her if I can use my Port Orleans mugs at the Carribean Beach since I have to move. Now she said that the policy has changed and you have to buy new ones every time. Has anyone heard this? I thought they were at the time going to allow the old ones. BTW - I do have old Carribean Beach mugs too. But obviously it doesn't matter now!

We have stayed at the Carribean Beach a couple of times before. I think this is my better choice of the above. Anyone else?

Thanks for any info!!!

It's too bad you need to move from where you originally wanted to stay. Honestly, if the cabins weren't that much more you may want to consider them. They are beautiful & FW is really the best place to stay. It is so relaxing & quiet.

The mugs - I'm not even going to touch that one. :p

You might want to post this question over on the resort board. They really have a lot of helpful hints over there.

Offically (this was told to me by my manager when i worked at all-star sports, and I saw it on a poster they had in the small print at the bottm), the mugs are only good for that length of stay.

I see another battle coming...

To elaborate on jimmybop's post, souvenir mugs are only good at the resort that they were purchased, and they are only good for the length of the stay in which the mugs were purchased.

when we bought our mugs at WL in 1996, the grampa type CM who sold them to us assured us that they would be good at Wilderness Lodge "for the rest of our lives." I wish I'd gotten that in writing.

With the whole mug thing. I am an aweful person because I have stayed at the All Stars a few times now and keep bringing my mugs back with me. I did purchase the larger size on my second trip but also used my original ones.

While there in December, we brought our DDs friend and I did buy one for her to keep.

I will continue to bring my mugs back with me. As I stay at different resorts, I will purchase a mug there. But I love the All Stars and will probably go there for many years.

I did call WL direct and I wanted to know if I brough my mugs from 2000 would I be able to use them and they said NO, I would have to buy new ones. so new ones it will be, what is a few extra bucks when i am spending this much $$$$$$, I like the refills at WL, the food court is right there. :D

The mug question has been going on here for as long as I can remember. But, with that being said. Your mugs are only good for your length of stay and only good at your resort. I personaly feel that it is a good deal. Before my DW and joined dvc we always got a refillable mug if the resort offered them. We would use them for our length of stay and then get new one's for every trip.

Have a great trip.

Have you thought about staying at the Swan/Dolphin. We changed our reses for June 9-June 14 from POR to Dolphin.

I wonder why they only gave you two options other than the other moderates. My best guess about availability is they have so many rooms blocked off for relocation at each resort, as there is availability on your dates for all of the deluxes and home away from home resorts when I check at disneyworld.com. If you are OK with the other moderates, that's great - I know my husband would not be thrilled. While I may be in the minority, my feelings are this: we work really hard for our vacations, and I want to stay where I booked orginally - or have some kind of concession if I have to move. This goes for any vacation. We were bumped a few weeks out from BWV (and we had a great rate). My husband talked with the CM and they gave us OKW at a large discount from what we were to be paying at BWV (more than what the normal price difference would have been).

I agree with MELSMICE - you should look into Ft. Wilderness Cabins if it is only a little bit more. You would save money by having a kitchen, and it is very relaxing after a busy day at the parks. The AP rate for that is $144 (I believe that is the best rate currently available), so keep that in mind if/when asking for a discounted upgrade. You should be offered better than that by CRO for your inconvenience.

As far as the mugs, I was told by CMs that they were good forever as well, but you get different stories depending on who you talk to - oh, well. :p

Hope you still have a great trip!!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! I really appreciate them!!!!

macs4us - I was told that everything else was sold out - booked completely. That is why I posted to see if the first part of June is really that busy. And now I read that their quarter posting weren't that great. So I am thinking why no rooms to be had.

We are still very happy with the Carribean Beach - although a nice upgrade would have been nice. Oh well! With everything I read, I knew this was coming.

Yes, we did think about the cabins, but it was a very substantial amount. That's why I thought this was kind of funny. Two choices - a high dollar amount. I kept reading that some were moving to say Animal Kingdom for like $10.00 extra or Polynesian for $30.00 a night extra. I would have taken one. But $2000.00 That is alot of souveniers!!!!! And treats in the parks!!!!!

Like I said I am happy, I just wondered what everyone was getting or hearing!!!It sounds like they are moving alot of people.

And how busy it is going to be. We are at Universal June 7-10 and onto Disney June 10-17. Can't wait!!!!!
Thanks again!!!!!!

We have gone at that time of year 3 different times.
This is my take on it........
The first week of June....1st - 7th, is not crowded. But every day after that the crowds start to build gradually.
By the 20th you are into "summer" crowds and by the last weekend (28th - 30th) you are into the July 4th group which is huge!
For the time you are there, it may not be that all the days are booked, but it may be the last few days of your stay they are having trouble with.
Last year we arrived on June 6th and stayed til the 17th.......OMG!!.....What a huge difference. Those last couple days were getting unbearable.

But you will still have a great time at CBR:)
They did just refurbish the food court too!

O.K. now I am worried. We were told our three rooms at POR for July 12 - July 19 are fine and we would have no problems. They did tell us our King room we had to give up.

Should I be worried about our stay?

My daughter is begging for us to change to AKL if we can get a good rate so she can have the King bed (her infant will sleep with them.)

 Kathy

disneyworld.com is showing rooms at CBR, CSR, AKL, WL and Poly for that time period. I would check with them again.

bekkiz

Thanks for checking.

I called them and reservations had to give me customer service. They said some rooms would be available in July but they only had a list through June.

She said they would call me back if my name was on a list. Of course, I am not waiting for that I will call every day to check.

Do you think if you call the resort they would give you the information?

Kathy

You're saying that on-site hotels are all but full for June (and I don't doubt it -- I've heard rumblings that the place is going to be full from other sources too). Off-site hotels are likely filling up as well.

BUT at the same time, Disney is running short hours (especially at the Magic Kingdom -- 7:00 is closing time for most of the nights we'll be there) and is skimpy on parades and fireworks because it's still down season.

These two things just don't add up!

From past experience...

WDW will adjust their hours to match the crowds. On 1 Thanksgiving vacation, they announced extended park hours while we were in MK.

You called & they said if your name was on the list to be moved they would call you bacK???? I called the other night to find out what was going on & they said that IF I were to be moved they would contact me. They also told me not to worry that there were going to be plenty of rooms at POR during my time frame & that they are still accepting ressies for then. My time frame is 6/1 to 6/9 @ POR
