I still don't get the problem with people using the pools I mean come on it isn't like they are breaking into your room and stealing your wallett it is a pool what is the big deal honestly. Also on a side note our family loves It's a Small World and the song and we are only in our 30's LOL.
but that is the point - some of us leave the balcony door open - I did - until I heard about the robbery at OKW. Now I check everything twice before I leave.
I guess my problem still is with the first time this happened to me - not OKW - CBR - these people were telling me that I couldn't swim in the quiet pool close to me - they were having a private party.
Well I took them I would go call the front desk to see where I could swim - they left - they got in cars that say Florida (this was way back before the people were killed and all rental cars say Fl now).
so when outsiders try to take over my resort pool (unless they are children) I get more than an little defensive. to own at DVC is expensive - one of the benefits is the pools - if these people can come in and use the pools - why am I paying for it????
I pay the same money for the same resorts and could care less who uses the pools we are on vacation and things like that are of no concern to us we lock the doors to our room all the time because you never know. A vacation could be ruined because of a break in and thieves will target resorts wether they are at Disney or just some hotel in the area. I can't see getting worked up over a pool as I said before there are many wordse things going on in the world to worry about and somone not staying at a resort using the pool is not one of them IMHO. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to tell you not to worry about it but for our family that would rank well it wouldn't even rank on any list of things to be worrying about.
Those of us who pay a lot of money for these resorts are paying for the maintenance of the property including pools and it is indeed stealing. It's called theft of services.Yes, a paying guest can break into a room too, but if people are allowed to wander uninhibited on property the chances of a crime occurring are indeed increased! If you don't mind standing because there are no seats at the pool you're paying for, good for you. I for one don't want to support someone else's vacation! I work too hard for mine!
But, CharlesTD, the point is, if they break into the pool areas, they are more likely to break into cars, rooms luggage etc also. Dishonesty is dishonesty, and anyone who wants to be dishonest in one way, will be more likely to be dishonoest in another too.

Well, no small number of DIS DVCers have stated their belief that the pools at SSR and VWL are too small. It seems only reasonable that the first thing to do is to make sure that only legitimate guests are using the facilities.
I still don't understand why if we all got tattooed, that wouldn't solve the pool hoping problem!!
I mean, it's only a slight pain thats over very quickly! Much like writting the check for an ownership contract!
Think about it, the CM's would only have to stroll by, if your contract number wasn't clearly visable on your forearm - you're out of there! No slackers sneeking in to use DVC pools that weren't entitiled to do so!!!!
Actually I could go for the tattoo idea I allready have a few so what would one more be to add to the collection LOL. As I stated we don't care about the pool use it is nothing I am concerned with even if my hard earned money is going to the fees that pay for the upkeep etc. I am by no means telling others not to worry about it I am purely saying our family could care less if other people are using it.
