Eros, fluff is fine for what it's for.
The only problem with this thread was that no one was going to agree or change their minds about it. It could go on forever with each side arguing their point and not listening to the other side.
There is no answer to the problem. We don't want war, but we do not want our children, parents, or spouses hurt either. I don't want the innocent people of any other country hurt. I really don't think anyone does.
So what do we do? We sit back and wait and wait and wait? If it would prevent a war or another horrific incident like the twin towers, I'll wait forever. But we know better. They are not waiting. They are hurting people all over the world in little strikes. Someone needs to stop them. We have been elected whether we like it or not. We are the ones who are the peacemakers, by diplomacy or by force.
I want Sadam and Osama stopped. If putting them in a playpen for the rest of their lives would work, I'd be happy. What I hate is that once they are stopped, other's will be all to glad to take their place.
I don't know what to do. I'm glad we have people in charge, and no I'm not speaking of George, that are a whole lot smarter than I am and will do what is in the best interest of our people. George W. Bush does what his advisers tell him is the best thing to do. If it makes since to him.
He may have revenge on his mind, but I hope the people that are there with him will temper that with reason and calmness because anything else will not work.

Killing Saddam and a few thousand Iraqis may play well on the ABC Nightly News, but there will still be thousands out there WHO WANT TO KILL US. IRAN has been a much larger sponsor of international terrorism than IRAQ. SAUDI ARABIA has plowed much more MONEY into support of international terrorism than IRAQ.

It's just that IRAQ is a convenient target for George. An underdeveloped country with a third class army. Easy pickings for the U.S. Military, but WAR may serve to ESCALATE the violence against us rather than decrease it ..........

"Just when I thought I was out..............THEY PULLLLL ME BACK IN!" Iraq Has a bigger army than Iran and Saudi Arabia, how is that easy pickings? We are still going to get attacked! They might be waiting for us to attack Iraq, but if we dont do it they will still attack us. Should we be scared to move on Iraq because of the big bad terrorist bullies? Who were we at war with when they took out the Towers? Nobody!

I don't think that just because they are sitting in the white house or pentagon that they should automatically be trusted. I was born at night, but not last night. Unless I want to be standing there to help make those decisions, I'm going to have to trust that they know what they are doing.
I sure hope the people we put in charge are thinking about those very things you mentioned. We can't afford for them not to.
I hope they have the differring opinions, the concerns, the intelligence, humanity and the compassion to take everything into consideration before making a decision that we all will have to live or die with.

Gosh Eros....why did I never think of this? You are SO right! We should just ignore Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction as well as his complete disrespect for the UN! I mean those issues have NOTHING to do with why we're potentially going to war with Iraq, right?! C'mon Eros.....while I think eventually our sites will turn to Iran and PERHAPS someday Saudi....... Iraq poses a much greater imminent threat to the US than they do. They aren't sitting around thumbing their nose at the international community. They aren't hiding WMD (at least not being so prominent about it if they are). All good things in due time.
