How is Busch Gardens in Tampa? I have been to the one in Williamsburg, it is great for older kids, teen and adults, but they don't have alot for the little ones. Does Busch in Tampa have alot for little kids and kids that are afraid of roller coasters? Thanks

Hello. We took our 2.5yo DD there on our trip in 1999. They had very little for small children. She is 6 now and I still wouldn't take her there unless they've improved a lot in that area. The roller coasters are great. I was also there in 1996, 7 months pregnant. I don't think there was anything I could ride at that time -- all fast rides.

Bush Gdns still isn't for the younger ones. It is great for preteens-adults.... but not the younger. They have a very small kiddie section.....

Thank you, I was sure that it probably was about the same as the one in Williamsburg. I don't want to waste time in a place like that, it would be great for me and DH, but not the kids. Lets face it, if they have a miserable time so will I.:)

You are all ofrgetting that Busch Gardens is the 4th largest zoo in the US. If your kids like animals there are plenty of them to see. If you don't feel like spending $50 a head for only seeing the animals I would understand that too. It's your choice. Remember, kids sometimes are scared of rides and 6 months later they are ready to conquer them. I have been to both busch Gardens parks and they are nothing alike. BGW is themed like Epcot World Showcase and BGT is themed like a zoo. Totally different. My son is 3 and loves BGT.

Joe beat me to bringing this up. I think the proper context to judge BG is that it's a Zoo embellished by amusement park rides.
BG has approx. 4x the number of animals as AK. Plenty for the youngin's to see, not necessarily ride.

Busch Gardens Tampa is a very different experience than Williamsburg. The animals alone are enough to visit BGT. Tampa has a great ice show you won't see in Williamsburg also. The Tampa park has more rides for children than Island of Adventure. We have taken our children to Tampa before they were old enough for coasters and they were never bored. They are certainly not 'cookie-cutter' parks. We travel up to Williamsburg at least once a year to enjoy the different atmosphere of that park. You would be really limiting yourself by only going to one of the Busch parks.

Just go to www.buschgardens.com and you can compare the two. There is an area just for small kids called Land of the Dragons plus as was mentioned plenty of animals. I would choose BG over AK when it comes to animals any day. There's a whole area for birds, another for gorillas, a petting zoo, baby animal nursery and lots of animals from Africa. There's also a variety of shows that kids would like.

I love BGW but as mentioned above, I would also liken it to EPCOT. BGT is a whole other world. Give it a try.

Thanks for all the replies, sounds interesting. Maybe it is worth a try.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but we just got back from 2 1/2 days at Busch Gardens with our 6 yr old DD and she loved it! She is just at 48" and could ride all but 2 of the rides.

They have 3 areas that we saw with rides for smaller children. The Land of the Dragons, Timbuktu and an area that has bumper cars and other rides for the under 42" crowd.

Then, of course, there are all the animal attractions. We definately could have stayed another day to re-see some of the attractions!
