How early do the buses start running from the resorts to the parks? We are trying to make breakfast ressies and I want early ones but I need to leave the resorts in plenty of time to make our time.....should I take our own car instead?

Bus routes run every 15-20 minutes. They start approx. 1 hr. prior to park opening and run until about 1 hr. after they close. According to PassPorter, there are special early-morning "character breakfast" buses that visit all resorts to pick-up guests. You should probably check with guest services when you check in.

When you call to make advance reservations, check with the planner. They should have information regarding whether or not there will be bus service to your breakfast. We have done several breakfasts before park opening, and have never had any trouble finding bus or any other service to the parks at that time. I believe they plan pretty well for this. They want you to be able to spend your money at every available spot. (and I'm not complaining)

There will be transportation for your early morning ADRs.

For MK and the MK resorts, the busses start before 6:30AM

For the others, the busses start roughly 7AM

Be out at the bus stop 45-50 minutes before your ADR. This is just in case you miss the previous bus.

If you have ADRs at the BC or other Epcot resort, take the MGM bus.

If you have ressies at a resort, tell the driver that and he MAY be able to drop you off right there. Actually, the hard part is if the ADR is within an hour of park opening. The busses will already be on their scheduled routes and will have trouble droppng you off at the resort.

If you plan on driving your car, DO NOT DRIVE to AK for the early morning breakfasts. They will not let you into the parking lot until 35-40 minutes before park opens.

The post by Ed above is absolutely correct.
I just wanted to add the you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER...get the idea...take any transportation information from any Cast Member unless they are wearing the purple pants of the the Disney bus drivers. All the veterans here on the DIS can tell you horror stories about bad transportation info from Cast Member both on the phone and in person.
If the info is not coming from a Disney bus driver....FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!!!
The veterans here on this board know more than most of the Cast Members about WDW transportation.

What about off-site guests that have an early ADR before park opening?? :worried: We are staying at FW but really do plan on driving ourselves everywhere. So I am just wondering about off-site guests that don't have a choice?

I also do not suggest driving to the Animal Kingdom for an early breakfast. There have been many posts about the parking lot gates not opening until close to park opening time. We tried taking a taxi a couple of years back and ran into this problem. For whatever reason only Disney buses are allowed into the AK early.
