We will be arriving mid to late afternoon at the Beach Club in 2 weeks. It's a short 4 day trip for us so we want to try to get some of AK in and then later in the evening in MGM for a bit. Do you think we will have a wait for the AK bus and how long does it take? Or should we just spring for a cab. Won't do that all the time but it's in the budget for when we need to get somewhere ASAP. Will it benefit us time wise in your opinion or would a cab be a waste of money?

The rest of my family is at WDW right now and keep telling me how crowded it is. It will only get more crowded in the coming months, IMHO and from my experience. Mid-afternoon can be a challenge to get a bus if you are pressed for time at any resort; they do not seem to run quite as often during that time period. And at BC, I think the wait is even longer because the route is so long. That's just been our experience. I would hold onto the taxi idea as an option. I think it would buy you some precious time.

If you are arriving in late afternoon and want to go immediately to AK, I would spring for the taxi. As Penny said, resort buses seem to slow down during the afternoons and AK closes early to begin with. You'll definitely be able to do mgm in the evening.
If you are going to wait and go to AK the following morning, you shouldn't have that long of a wait (baring any unforseen problems with the buses).

We found the buses to be extremely frustrating when we stayed at the BC. Long waits and many stops!

I'd go the taxi route. I always drive to AK from YC (which shares buses with BC) because the bus ride seems to take so long (especially the way the buses go past AK and then circle back to get to the bus drop off area). A cab will be much quicker and you won't have to spend any time worrying and waiting for a bus.

Take the cab. In October, which is much slower than Summer, it took our bus 40 minutes to get from the Beach Club to the Animal Kingdom.

The bus system at the Beach Club, quite frankly, stinks. It is a huge negative for an otherwise lovely resort. You share buses with the other boardwalk area resorts most of the time. If you are in a hurry to get anywhere, get a cab.
