I would like to take the boat over from MK to FW for the night we are going to hoop-dee-do at fort wilderness at 5pm.

i heard the bus is just awful from GF to FT Wilderness..

i need to be at Ft W early to stand inline-how long is boat trip?

We love taking the boat from MK to FW! This is what we always do when we go to the HDDR. Once you get on the boat, it stops at WL and sometimes the Contemporary, depending on the boat, but we've always gotten there in about 15 minutes. It's a very nice ride too! :thumbsup2

thanks-question for you--we have 5pm show--cat 1...but want really good seats --when do we have to start lining up at door?

Also-is the boat on a schedule? do we need tickets--does everyone get on or is there a long line??? you can tell i'm a bit of a planner..

Unless you are there for a grad night, I would say doing boats would bbe the least stressful.

I would guess the boat would be about 15 mins. I can never remember if the WL stop is before or after the FW stop on the boat. Then take the boat back to the MK after dinner and transfer to the GF boat.

If it's Grad night or your dinner is over after the MK is closing, then do the bus thing back to the GF. However, you will probably have to change busses (ie FW to Downtown Disney or another park.) Ask a CM at the GF, they will explain alternatives..... and if all else fails there is a taxi.

You just line up for the boat the same as for a bus. It doesn't run on a strict schedule, but it does run continuously. I would recommend picking it up at the MK and not one of the resorts. I tried to catch a boat to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop Dee Doo when we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. Every single boat that came to the Lodge was full of guests from the MK. It was a very annoying and we were late.

As for your seating, I believe that your table is pre-assigned depending on when you made your reservation. There is no need to get in line extra early.

Riding the boat from WL/FW is so much fun! We love just relaxing and getting beautiful views of all the hotels and the castle as you approach the MK. It's even more beautiful at night!

Yes, there is no need to line up for the Hoop. Your table will be preassigned.

And actually there is no bus from the GF to FW. I suspect you've read reports of people not liking the bus that runs from the Outpost parking lot to the Settlement. There used to be a TTC bus to FW but it no longer runs if the MK is open. However, after the Hoop if the MK is closed, it does run. And if it happens to be running when the performance is over, that TTC bus will be the fastest way back to the GF. I think people get the two buses confused.

Anyway, on the way to the Hoop the best way to get there is the monorail to MK and the boat to FW as others have stated. If you want to be there at the suggested time, I would allow 40 minutes. You will probably make it faster than that but just in case you just miss a monorail and then a boat, that should give you enough time.

And you don't need tickets for the boat.

Have fun!

After 3:00 pm the boat from the MK stops at WL first and then on to FW. The boat ride from MK to WL takes about 10 minutes. It will stop at WL for about 5 minutes and continue on to FW which is a little less than 10 minutes away. By the time the boat leaves the dock at MK until it docks at FW is about 25 minutes after 3:00 pm.

thanks for the information!

Should have added that if the bus to the TTC is running, once you arrive at the TTC, hop the resort monorail. Another option if you're not too tired is to walk through the grounds of the Polynesian and follow the path to the GF. It is a lovely walk anytime and magical at night.

Gary knows the boats to FW & WL and if he says it's a 25 minute boat ride, I think I'd allow 50min to an hour.:confused3

I would also allow about 50-60 minutes travel time. You have to figure in waiting for the boat and loading time, plus the walk to the Hoop.

Taxi is always an option, but at FW you will have to take an internal bus from Settlement(near HDDR) to the Outpost(check in/out, parking) to get a taxi. You may have to have one called for you, I can't recall seeing any waiting(but I have never really looked either).

thanks...it is apparent to me that coming and going to FW is a royal pain in the a$$..........hope i don't regret it..my kids pucker out early.
