That's a great theory. Too bad real life isn't as simple. Reminds me of a great quote, "Everyone's a pacifist between wars. It's like being a vegetarian between meals."

Nice quote, and germain in some situations. However WDW is not a war zone and escalating a non-violent situaton to a violent one is wrong in the eyes of any reasonable person. I am cetrainatly willing to protect myself and my family by any means necessary, but terrorizing innocent bystanders as well as my family when it is not absolutely necessary is just plain stupid.

Wow, sorry, didnt realize how highly trained you are. I can give you 100's of examples where reacting first saved the lives of many people. Too many times if you take even an extra second to "assess" your wife gets that phone call she never wants to get at 3am.....

DH believes in this saying, but he's a cop. I can't see other people living by this standard on a daily basis.

..... I have several officers in my family. Some are retired and some are still working.. and yes, this is their belief.. which was why I commented that he/she must be law enforcement. They are trained that way. They are trained to act first then ask questions later. And like you said, others do not live by this standard. It is not the norm. An officer can react that way since most of the time they have either back up or their weapon while the every day Joe/Jane do not. They need to assess and be aware of their surroundings prior to making any physical confrontation.
