DVC gives us the availability to book at the 11 month window. Why then are the Adventure Collection contracts not in place so we can book at the 11 month window?

I guess these contracts are somewhat complicated to put together and DVC must negotiate the cost etc.

I just wish they would get it together sooner.

As of yesterday there were no Adventure Collection offerings available for 2005. Last time we did this the contract was not in place till June .

Thanks for listening.

Last I heard, some of the CC contracts were not finished for 2004 for the entire year. DCL is also not done for 2005 as of about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks Dean , that is interesting. Seems like they have been pushing ( informing) members about these options during the member meetings.

Scott,

Your right about them being pushed. We went to a gathering on the crusie we were on and it was very clear that they were trying to get members to think more about other options besies the DVC resorts.

It is frustrating that we were told that DVC is now the largest travel agent that DCL works with but they can't get a contract together for next year yet. You would think that they could get that done especially.

I am convinced DVC is getting something out of this or have made commitments to II to give up more time. It's been denied by several higher ups but I can think of no other reason they would push things so much. The idea of trying to educate members about all the great options is total BS. I'm wondering if II has made their contract or at least the price, conditional on how many exchanges they get in some way. Either that or someone is lining their pockets.

If DVC were to go to bat for the members and demand a better deal, I'm convinced almost every exchange options outside II could be improved dramatically and the costs reduced by at least 25-30% in most cases. It would mean being willing to say give us X price or nothing and MEAN it.

Interesting. Disney has a history of behaving exactly this way with contractors, who generally give in to it in order to have Disney listed as a client.

Since so many people from outside are supposedly trying to trade into DVC compared to the number trading out, I wonder why DVC does not have more leverage?

I'm bummed that the Grand Cannon rafting trip is no longer offered. I'd hoped to be able to do that.

I will admit that any exchange we have done outside of DVC has been first class.

So in that respect I feel DVC is working for us the member.

I, for one, am hoping that the DCL contract delay is due to the rumors that one of the ships will be repositioned to the West Coast for DL's 50th anniversary! All I can do is hope...

But remember they are renting out the units represented by the points. It also frees up inventory making other arrangements like unit assingments much easier.
