I called the school before the start of the day and talked to the principal requesting a meeting with the principal and the teacher regarding this bully. He said he'd talk to the teacher and get back to me. I had a meeting for this morning.

Unfortunately the teacher was not at school today because her child is sick but I talked to the principal. He is going to talk to the kid and his parents. He also was going to clue in the playground aides to take anything ds says very seriously. He was headed to tell the sub to keep his eyes open today. The teacher moved the kid's seat so he'd be on the opposite side of the room from DS. Ds was also going to talk to the principal. So maybe this will help and the pesty little brat will leave my son and other kids alone.

At school yesterday DS said that darn kid grabbed his arm and wouldn't let go! DS told the teacher and the kid did get in trouble.

If Ds comes home and says he did ANYTHING I'll be back to the school ASAP!

Thanks for all of your kind words and I'll keep you updated.

Good luck to you!

Urrghhh - I just hate bullies! If I ever heard my child acted like a bully, (which I can't imagine) but I would do everything in my power to put a stop to it!

I hate bullies too! What surprises me, are the parents of bullies that actually BACK THEM UP. My DD knows exactly what would happen to her if she became a bully - and it ain't pretty. I wish your DS luck.

...the Jenny Jones show in someone's future...;)

Situations like this are so painful for us mommies :( I hope the talk with the principal helps and this bully can learn to control his mean behavior.

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie.

Hope this smooths things out for the future, Pem. My best for your boy.

Stand your ground Pembo. You are doing the right thing. The thing that bullies never realize is that there is always someone bigger and meaner than them lurking in the shadows. And sometime that person is named "mom". :)

Pembo, you are doing good. :)

You're doing great Pembo. Bullying should never be tolerated and it sounds like the school is taking this situation very seriously. Principals, teachers, aids, they all feel the same way we do. I'm sure they'll do whatever they can do to stop that little rascal from hurting or bullying anyone else. The parents may be another story. It seems to me, bullies are raised by bullies.

I'll tell you a story of one bully. We used to go roller skating a lot when my son was small. I guess he was about 5 or 6. One night I noticed my DS face was all red on one side. I asked what happened. He told me this one older boy always pinched his cheeks every time he saw him. I went over to the boy who was about 12 and asked him if he pinched my sons cheek. He said yeah! As if to say what are you going to do about it. Well, I pinched his cheek from here to tomorrow afternoon. I said, hurts, doesn't it? Don't ever touch my son again. He never did. Maybe I was wrong to do that. But his parents weren't around to do anything, so I took matters into my own hands.

Angelrose-I love what you did! My dh is ready to pound this kid.

A little update-Asked my ds what happened at school yesterday. Our little bully asked to play with ds and his best friend. Ds said ok and they had a great time. Maybe that talk with the principal did some good!

The update sounds promising pembo. Maybe that little bully just needed a strong lecture - which he apparently got. I hope things stay peaceful from now on. :D

Your actions may have been the right kind of attention that this bully needed. Many times the bullies are lacking in attention from their home life. The only attention they may receive is the wrong kind. Thus, that's all they know!

Now that you can see that this bully has a "soft" side (asking to play with your child), it's sad that he had to resort to bullying to get ANY attention.

Hope all stays well.
