I was wondering, if there are kitchens = food in hotel rooms,

is there a greater possiblity of bugs??

i was deciding between hawthorn suites vs carib. beach...

Fl is going to have bugs - Fl is known for them.

Disney probably tries to make this less obviously to its guests - but even Disney can't get rid of all the bugs.

So if bugs are big thing to avoid - either go with the CBR - or don't go to Fl.

We stayed at Hawthorn Suites last October, not a bug in site.

Have a great time.

I really don't think it matters either way. Keep in mind that guests bring food into the rooms whether there is a kitchen or not. And, as already stated, its Florida - former swamp land. There will be bugs. We've had them in our rooms at Disney. We've had them in our rooms offsite. We've had them in pool homes offsite. We've had them everywhere we've ever stayed in and around Disney regardless of where we were, what type of accomodations or what price range. So don't judge a hotel badly just because they have some bugs.

WEll I think the suite hotels are less likely to have bugs than the reg ones simply because the management is aware that there is going to be food around all the time and they plan for it. We stayed at three suite hotels this time and NOY one bug. I looked everywhere for them. Just to be safe I kept all food in the fridge(cereal, bread and cookies too).
I watched a show on one of the news programs like 20/20 before I left about bed bugs. Some of the best hotels have them and it is not their fault. It is the fault of the people who stay there and bring them. I pulled down all my sheets and blankets, washed the sheets and towels before we used them and checked every nook and cranny.

If you are going to use the washer in the suite, put in an empty load with some lysol and detergent and run it on the long cycle on hot. After it is done then wash your sheets and towels in the next load and spray the drier with lysol. I know it sounds like I am a fanatic and it is probably useless but at least I felt better.

Not necessarily, the kitchen doesn't attract more bugs unless it just isn't cleaned well.

One thing that DOES tend to mean more bugs in a FL hotel is staying on a lower floor or in a room that has an entrance off a balcony. If you want to avoid them, go for the highest floor you can get.
