Buffet menu?

Another quick question,
the price shown for buffets - e.g. plaza gardens 22.99 euros, is there a different price if you go at lunch or is that the set price for the whole day?
It just seems a bit steep for having lunch

That's the price for the day.

As the restaurants are only open during the park hours most of the year the only time you can eat in them is lunch be that early lunch (11.30ish) or late (16.00ish)

If you are going in the summer months or when the park is open until 22.00 obviously you can eat your dinner in there.

yep, same price all day, whether its for lunch or early dinner - as its similar options and variety of foods which are available right the way through the day at the Plaza Gardens. Its the same policy in all the buffet restaurants in the resort which are open for lunch and dinner (except Inventions, as its characters only in the evenings, not at lunch time).

I wouldn't really call it lunch, many people do the buffets & that is their main meal for the day.

I personally think the buffets are good value for money as you know what your paying & you can have as much as you like. If you eat late afternoon you could probably get away with just having breakfast & a buffet meal.

I agree with tennisfan - if you do a buffet, do it as your main meal of the day, and then have counter service/McDonalds etc for dinner.

We've often just grabbed hotdogs and fries from the cart in the Village or baguettes from the station to share in the evening after a buffet lunch.

I think the buffet meals are great value and are really useful if you've got fussy eaters in your party as they're bound to find something they like.

We tend to only have two meals a day at DLP. We've often had our main meal of the day late afternoon - in fact we're doing it the day we arrive at Walt's - and we usually find we don't want anything else for the rest of the day although if anyone does get hungry I usually get them something from either a counter service or else chips in the Village.

I haven't been for a few years now but I used to think the buffet at Plaza Gardens was good value. I LOVE the way lunch and dinner are the same price at DLP.

everyone will have a different opinion on this, because everyone's taste is slightly different.

I like buffets as our main meal of the day, its a chance to relax over a meal, gives some respite after a lot of walking (you walk for miles at DLP without realising you're doing it, as everything is so close together), and recharges the batteries a bit. I'm not a foodie, so tend to go for the lower-end of the budget buffets.

My absolute favourite is Restaurant des Stars in the Studios (usually only open for lunch, not dinner). Then its the Beavers Creek Tavern at the Sequoia Lodge for dinner (you can visit and eat/drink/shop in any of the onsite hotels at DLP, regardless of where you are staying).

I've also eaten at the buffets for lunch at Plaza Gardens, Agrabah Cafe, and Sunday brunch at the Steakhouse in the Village (this is not a budget buffet, but the food is divine and its a character meal so thats included in the price).
For dinner we've eaten at the buffet restaurants at the Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Newport Bay Club, and Billy Bobs saloon in the Village.
I would go to any of these again, I think possibly the least memorable for us was the buffet at the Cheyenne, but again, thats a personal opinion, and I know lots of others do really like it. My daughter can be a bit of a fussy eater, and she has found plenty choice at all of the buffets (apart from possibly at the Agrabah Cafe, but she had pasta and sauce here, filled her up - and the Agrabah Cafe is so beautiful inside, its like a DLP attraction all by itself ).

Thankyou for the advice... Im going to have to find a notebook to make note of all these suggestions as I know Ill forget.

Were not too fussy, well Im not but were relatively healthy and always start to feel anxious if we've eaten unhealthy food for some time so we were hoping a buffet may offer more options.

The kids are used to a variety of foods but like most kids change there minds on what they like from day to day!

Having a baby in tow also makes the appeal of a buffet more interesting as we never have time to sit down and enjoy a meal for long.

That's one of the main advantages of buffets in our experience, although you can still have queues etc you don't have to wait to order your food and then wait again for it to be served. You can see the food before you choose it, have as much or little as you want and if some people want starters/want to be adventurous etc and others don't it's no problem!
We've eaten buffets at Sequoia Lodge, Plaza Gardens, Billy Bob's, Lucky Nugget (when it was a character meal) and Newport Bay.
This year we're going to try Agrabah (which wasn't there in 2007 when we last went) and we'd love to try the Sunday brunch at the Steakhouse but as our train only gets in at 1.30pm that might be pushing it!

These are the buffets I've eaten at in order of preference:- my favourite is Inventions (dinner not lunch as there are only characters there in the evening) quite closely followed by the Sunday Brunch at the Steakhouse in the Village.

Also thoroughly enjoyed Agrabah Cafe ~ I agree with Elaine that it really is an attraction in itself in there.

Restaurant des Stars ~ lovely food although I'm not so keen on the theming in there BUT absolutely adore the little animatronic Remy.

Used to love going to Lucky Nugget but the reviews in recent years haven't been so good although maybe it will improve now it's no longer a character meal.

Plaza Gardens buffet I thought was good value and it's really quite beautiful in there.

Is there anywhere that actually explains what the buffet is?

DLPmagic just gives an approx price but doesn't state the types of food, I am a fussy eater and son disabled so it's preferable to see a proper menu layout, if they exist.

there are no menus for any of the buffets as far as I'm aware - you don't get any kind of menu when you are at the buffet restaurants to detail the buffet contents. The food is labelled in front of each dish.

There's a little bit more info on DLP food info guide and also on Magical Kingdoms ~ not very much I'm afraid but they should state what types of food you get ie Lucky Nugget is Tex-Mex, Agrabah is Mediterranean/Eastern, Inventions is seafood, cold meats, carvery, salads etc.

All the buffets will have children's sections with typical children's fare like pizzas, chicken shapes etc.

thanks everyone, I think I'll stick with having a bigger tea and a small lunch as I'm worried we might get bored at night once we have left the park so at least we could stay out an extra 2 hours ect compared to if we were to just go and buy an sandwich.

That's exactly what we do too

Buffets are great value for money if you fill up! I wouldn't bother for a lesser meal. I'd never manage a buffet lunch and another meal in the evening! Most of the time I don't bother with anything in the evening as I'm usually still full!

Just thinking for our son, do most of the buffet offerings include jacket potatoes? He isn't really that mad on chips or fries.

I know Chuck Wagon at the Cheyenne do them but none of the menu's really show full details.

I can't remember if they had jacket potatoes or not,(we last went in 2007) mine probably wouldn't have chosen them anyway as they wouldn't have been able to fit so much other food on! However there must have been some alternatives to chips as my eldest son (now 16) has never been keen on 'children's food' - chips, things in breadcrumbs, ice-cream etc (very interesting for your standard pub child menu!) and he's always found plenty to eat. Most places do pasta or rice, I seem to remember sauté and dauphinoise potatoes in some places plus plenty of meat, salad and vegetable dishes, we certainly never went hungry!
