ds is very picky--- and 11. at a buffet, he will only eat fries, chicken tenders, grapes and soft serve vanilla ice cream.
I assume I will have to pay the adult cost, right? even though only eating from the child portion... anyone only have to pay the child cost??
Jill

Yup, you will have to pay the adult cost...Kind of a bummer, but they go by age, not appetite.

I'm in the same boat. DS12 is tiny, tiny and eats nothing. A buffet for him is a chicken strip, a scoop of mac & cheese, a roll, some grapes, and MAYBE a cookie. And we have always been charged the full adult price for him. We try not to book too many buffets for that exact reason. Even breakfast, which is cheaper, is still expensive. $20 for a waffle and 3 strawberries gets old after a couple of times! :rotfl:

THANKS... I AM trying to figure out if ddp is worth it--- and ds really isn't into that many character meals-- not like when he was little- we are doing cm and cp.
Does anyone have experience with Ohana's and "kids choices"--- chicken strips one of them?
and liberty tree tavern for lunch??

The thing with buffets is that anyone can eat from anywhere on the buffet. Yes, there are 11 year old kids that won't eat their fill. But there will be 11 year olds that will eat quite a bit more than an adult would. And their are adults (like my mother-in-law) who will only take a salad and maybe one plate of something non-fried and is "safe".

Well Im 26 and will only eat 3 french fries so I should pay the childs price right? Come on people. How will Disney charge you by your kids appetite? Whats to stop someone from saying "well my kids 14 but she'll only eat a little salad so Im gonna pay the kids price" and then she goes and eats $70 worth of pizza and chicken wings.

If you have an adult aged child who eats like a kid you are often better off not doing the DDP and just eating in menu places where they can just order and pay for the kids food.

LTT is great for lunch. Our favorite! We always go there for the fried cheese and the pot roast. YUM!

No chicken strips at OHana, but rather round flat chicken nuggets with less "meat" than McDonald's nuggets.

This is a tough transition time for that age. The prices on buffets are VERY high. My kids (now at 13 and 16) didn't eat much at all when the were 14 and 11. That was the year that I skipped *most* of the buffets and did table service. They could still order off the kids menu if they wanted, or they could share adult meals. Of course, I don't do the dining plan so that doing that worked out for me. I don't think you can do that with the dining plan.

Thank you for your responses... I was just wondering what others have had for experiences... I am the OP..and I was inquiring as ds has sensory issues and aspergers. I figured when I wrote the post that I would (and planned on) on paying adult price for him. I am still wondering if chicken tenders are offered at the LTT at lunch? anyone now??
Jill

From the menu on AllEars it doesn't look like LTT has chicken nuggets or tenders at lunch.
Good luck finding things your DS will enjoy! I know it is tricky to decide on the dining plan when you have someone who counts as an adult but is a picky eater.
We are getting the plan for 6 nights and paying out of pocket the other 10. We figure after 6 nights we'll be so full we won't want to eat much of anything after that! :rotfl:

Hi,
DS 19 - autistic eats very few items. Toasted english muffins, Chicken tenders, fries, soft serve ice cream. He did eat a hamburger at LTT. Said it was good!

We did the buffet at CP and he ate 2 bananas + 1 glass of milk. Nothing else! :rolleyes1
We skip the buffets now! ::yes::

All ears says no chicken tenders- but DIS menus say yes at LTT at lunch.

help!
But I did think of making an ADR anyway and going directly to the LTT and ask directly...
I will put the meal at the end of the week....
