Budget ways to replace bath countertops?

We keep thinking we might sell our house in the spring & are getting it ready now just in case. If we don't sell, then we can enjoy the updates. We've done lots of minor things since living here like lighting, paint (removed wallpaper), appliances, etc. but the baths need some updates. The tile floors & bathtub/shower are in good shape as are the vanities.

However, the countertops & faucets are very dated -fake marble laminate w/raised sinks & old builder grade faucets. I don't want to spend a whole lot so what are the best options for places to find countertops & faucets?

We have non-standard vanity lengths so I've already tried HD & Lowes. I've been looking for decent clearanced faucets but wondered if anyone has had good luck w/any online stores or where to find discounted countertops.

My sister had her bathroom counter tops redone with Granite Tiles, they look beautiful.

Beat me to it, my mom found some great looking faucets at Tuesday morning. She really should have replaced the countertop at the same time though as the rest of her bathroom looks great now, but the counter tops are tired looking.

On the countertops, maybe try calling around to Lowes/Home Depot and see if they have a returned custom order that might fit? Have you priced out just having one made? My mom used one of the new formica patterns in her kitchen that looks like stone. You have to get right up on it to tell it's formica.

Even custom sized formica isn't terribly expensive. Depending on how long your counters are, I'm guessing you could get it done for $500 per bathroom (installed yourself). I bought nice Delta bathroom faucets at Ocean State Job Lots for about $35/each about a year ago. They were a huge improvement over the builder's grade faucets we had. DH installed them himself. I think that the toughest part was getting his 6'+ frame under the sink!.........HTH...............P

I'm interested in an idea, too. We have done the entire bathroom except for the counter and sinks. Even our faucets were updated a few years ago, but the new tile and paint don't go with the countertop now.

A few years ago I found a vanity top at Home Depot about the time they did inventory. It's solid surface and fairly small (for a powder room) and was only $26! I want another deal like that.

our bathroom sinks and counter tops are "cultured marble"
All one piece plastic type resin. When we replaced ours they just had to measure and we had to tell them what type faucet we were getting.
They are not too expensive and hold up to water better than laminate does.

Have you tried any granite or stone fabricators? They always have remnants and even having it cut down to length might not be too bad. That's what we did for both of our bathrooms and it's a great selling feature if you do move. If you stay they look great too.
