We are returning our rental car tomorrow. The agent at the counter when we picked up said we need to provide a receipt showing that we filled up the minivan close to a gas station near the airport. Can anyone tell me where is the best place to go and how to get there? TIA:goodvibes

You might want to fill up closer to where you are staying then just top off near the airport.(airport prices are usually higher)

I hope the link works.

Link did not work.

Google maps enter MCO and search nearby for gas.

Yeah, they always say that but I've never had them check a receipt when I turn in the car. They are usually way too busy checking in 10 other cars that arrive at the same time. They'll check to see if the gas tank is full but I've not had them ask me to produce a receipt or even ask me where I filled up.

But, there are a few gas stations off Semoran Blvd right before you exit for the airport. The first two across from each other (one is Suncoast Energy, the other one I can't remember its name), skip those. They are always double the cost. Not kidding. Pulled into Suncoast and they were charging over $5 a gallon. Pulled right back out without pumping anything. Drive on down the road a half mile or so, maybe a mile and there's a 7-11 and a couple of others charging the normal, going rate for gas.

There are Hess stations all over that area too.

I've rented from all the onsite companies and have never been asked to show a receipt for gas. That said, I always fill up at the Circle K (Shell) station on Boggy Creek just south of the airport.

Anyone familier with a gas station close to Sanford Intl??? Renting there in Oct, and will need to fill up beforehand.

Seems asking for receipts is starting to become a common theme with rental car companies. There's another thread on here about Dollar asking for receipts as well.

HERE's a link of a map of gas station and gas prices near the airport.

Thanks....big help.

Your rental contract says you will return the car FULL just like you received it. If you return the car and it says FULL, you have no obligation to furnish a receipt unless that too is spelled out in the contract. And it's not.

Most rental contracts allow the company to ask for a receipt.

I've never been asked to show a receipt for a weely rental but we have been asked for receipt when doing a one way car rental, picking up at MCO and dropping off at Port Canaveral & vice versa. I believe if the 2 locations are less than 60 miles apart, or something like that, they want to see that you really did fill the tank. We got a compact in March and even with exiting Rt. 528 for a grocery stop the fuel gauge needle barely moved. I could have easily said it was a full tank still. I guess they want to protect themselves from small losses here & there. I handed my receipt upon return to MCO but they didn't want to see it.
This is good for finding cheapest gas station in any area.

That's right:cool2:

Returning to airport via I-4 east to 528 (Beach Line) east -- Watch for what looks like an exit ramp to pay the toll. Then get off at Exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under and nice cheap gas station is right there on the left. You are about 2 miles from the airport.

Leaving the gas station get into middle lane facing north (going away from the expressway). Required right (east) onto McCoy. Next light is 436 (Semoran). Turn right to enter the airport.
