Planning a trip to New Orleans at the end of March. Prices are really high because it's the weekend before Easter. I would like to find a hotel in or near the French Qtr to get the full effect of being there. Is there an area that is close to French Qtr. That is in a good neighbor hood. We will have a car because I want to drive out to see some of the plantations.
Any ideas will be appreciated

Is a Marriott Faifield Inn & Suites out of the question? I think the one on Baronne Street looks like a great location, but not sure about pricing.

I've stayed here many years ago with just DH. Room was small but adequate for a boutique hotel and a comfortable place to sleep. It's within the French Quarters. We were able to park our SUV in their on-site parking area (but it has limited spaces). Our room was on the first floor in the courtyard near the fountain. After that trip, we usually went for cheer competitions and stayed a hotels across from the convention center which is walkable to the French Quarters or short taxi ride. CC's Coffee is a great coffee shop across the street too!

We stayed at French Market Inn last summer and loved it. That same owner has multiple properties in the FQ that are all reasonably priced - look at their website for the best deals.
Location was perfect for us.

Le Pavillion is a neat hotel more towards the business district but you can walk to the quarter or river front with no problem. Serves PB&J sandwiches and other deserts every night along with hot chocolate. Should be able to score a room for under 200 a night.

I have also stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter. Fine for a chain hotel but not much going on there action wise.

I highly recommend reservations at Emeril's if you make it down there. Some of the best service you will run into, and very good (but a bit pricey) food.

Nothing is all that far. Pretty much anything in the Warehouse District or CBD is usually fine. If you list your dates and budget you will get better help with specific hotels.

We save the most money by staying at an Airbnb, especially during peak times. Make sure to read all the reviews and stick with rentals that have a long review history.

Stayed Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites in recent years, both just outside the Quarter but easy walk all over. I would look at Orbitz or Expedia with your dates and map view to try to narrow it down to your budget options. Go from there.

Lots to do, so read up before you go. We LOVE Mardi Gras World, been on the tour a few times and it is certainly something you would find only there. They actually built the old decor that was up in the POFQ food court.
