Budget Shoes/Clothes for a new child

My top places to find clothes for babies:

1)Yard/Garage Sales
2)Gently Used Baby Clothing Stores (we have a franchise here named Once Upon a Child)
3)Target/Walmart
4)Goodwill/Donation/Thrift stores

Also...there is a website called...thread-up.com It is pretty much an online used kids clothes store...but it's the users of the site who sell the clothes. It can't help to look and see what they have.

As for the shoes...we had about 3 pair of shoes (over the course of his first year) for him to wear when he'd go out...cause I'm one of those mom's whose baby had to look super cute when we'd go to dinner or grocery shopping. Other than that...we didn't buy him his first REAL pair of shoes till he was pulling up (Stride-Right/Sperry has great kids shoes and they'll measure his feet for you every time you go in so you get the perfect fit).

Good luck! And I hope you can find some budget friendly clothes for your kiddo! :D

I used to buy big lots of clothes on ebay when my son was very young. For about 30 bucks, I got a whole season's worth of clothes.

Great suggestions here.

Just wanted to add that I have a Kohls card and would use my % off to buy clothing for my daughter. Their jumping bean stuff is cute and a pretty good price when you catch the sale and get the 30% code. They also sell Carters brand and I've gotten them cheaper there than the outlet.

I agree about the shoes thing. We had to buy Stride Rite when we did buy because her feet were so darn chunky. $$ too expensive to buy more than one or two pair in any given size!

Why in the world would a 6 month old need shoes? :confused3 Now that it's warming up, his feet can be bare, and in A/C, just get a pair of Robeez (never fall off). I usually got 6 months out of a pair before needing to go up to the next size. I didn't buy my kids shoes until they were strong walkers.

My niece gets 90% of the clothes for her 1 and 2 year olds at Mom-To-Mom sales on the weekends. She also sells stuff there as the 1 year old outgrows it.

resale shops- around here, we have Savers and Goodwill, which are always packed full of gorgeous kids clothes- Once upon a child,I learned many years ago to rarely buy new kids clothes,I have always found excellent gently used clothes for my kids, that is until one of them hit 'mens' sizes....then I had to readjust...but at 6 months, it's so cheap to clothe a baby well.....unless you CHOOSE to spend extra and buy all the stuff brand new....:thumbsup2
6 month old babies don't need shoes....

Walmart. I buy pretty much all my DS4's clothes either there or Target (when Target has a sale). Most of their shirts & shorts are only $3 a piece. Whenever I go to a resale shop or Goodwill they're often charging $3-6 for used clothing, I just don't see how that's a deal. I've found the quality at both places to be really good. Now my older kids want clothes form Aberchrombie & Hollister so I have to save $$ somewhere!
