I am looking for a jacket that is comparable to the North Face resolve or venture jacket in everything but price! $99 is a little steep for a rain jacket/wind breaker. Here's a picture of the jacket:

I've tried Ebay, Macy's, Marshall's, everywhere. I'm just looking for a lightweight (not lined), short (belt-height), hooded windbreaker/rain jacket. Can anyone think of a company or even a specific jacket that is under $50, preferably?? TIA!

Did you check 6pm.com, they have some north face jackets that look like that. Their prices changes daily so keep checking. I saw them not too long ago at 60% off.

I found a North Face, and the 'North Face like' jacket I have now at TJ Maxx.

Hi! I just purchased a Columbia Arcadia Jacket and LOVE it! I bought it yesterday at my local Bass Pro shop for $59.95 but you can buy it on-line at Amazon.com and save the sales tax (they offer free shipping on this item, too!). There are 3 colors available in ladies sizes and about 10 or 11 different colors in the plus sizes. I purchased the tidewater color, it's a really pretty light shade of turquiose blue. It's waterproof, doesn't have a lining and also falls right above my hip bones. Good luck!!:goodvibes

I just checked it out! They do have the jacket but not in a color I really wanted-- thanks for the reminder! I love 6pm.com but never checked for a North Face there!

This site has womens sizes for $79.99, if you could possibly wear girls sizes they have some of them for $35.97 http://www.backcountry.com/store/search.html?mv_session_id=ztFjpqf4&aff=1&q=North+Face+resolve

Good luck
Ooo, I like the price of the girl's jackets! I'd be hesitant to buy without trying it on, though. I'm petite, but sometimes girls jackets are too wide/short. Awkward fit, you know?

I thought that Marshall's/TJ Maxx would be my best bet. This time of year probably isn't the best time to be searching for a lightweight jacket in the Northeast, though!

I'm definitely considering this one now-- love the blue! Plus, I get free Amazon Prime shipping. Thanks!

I bought a denali I think it called from sunnysports.com. You might try there. There are usually coupon codes for percentage off and free shipping.

I also have a Columbia jacket & I love it. Not sure of the model but its two tone. Its waterproof and fits great. Its perfect for a fall day or if I don't want to wear a heavy coat in the winter. I got it at the Columbia outlet and I know it wasn't more than $40.

DH had his heart set on North Face. We went to Macy's with a coupon but he didn't really like the fit of the North Face. He liked the Columbia but walked out when Macy's said he couldn't use the coupon. He found one he liked just as much at Walmart and it was a lot cheaper.

OP - if you have a store near you that sells North Face jackets, go and try on a girls. I'm 5 7", 135 lbs and I wear a girls XL North Face Denali. I could probably fit in a girls Large, but wanted it bigger so I could wear sweaters under the jacket and still have room. I went to Dicks Sporting Goods and tried them on before ordering online. I believe I bought mine from backcountry.com. I just bought my DD one from sunnysports. Google for codes too.

Sports Authority also sells them if you have one near you where you can try it on.

Good luck!

Have you looked on Sierra Trading Post's website? I have found a lot of good deals on that site. Sign up for their newsletter, and they'll e-mail you a lot of discount codes.

I have a North Face jacket and a Columbia, and I actually like my Columbia better.

I'm not looking for a denali, but I'll definitely check that website out, thanks!

Good to hear more people like Columbia! I'm going to the Wrentham outlets soon, I'll have to check if they have a Columbia outlet.

I have a North Face denali and just really love the brand-- it fits like a dream, and after all of these years, it's still in perfect shape. I'm not above buying some things at Walmart, but I think I want this jacket to be really good quality and last me (that's why I was thinking the $50 range).

Hmm, thanks for the vouch for the girls jackets. I'm 5'3'' and 115 pounds, so I'd probably fit into girls, then. You're right, I'll definitely try one on at Sports Authority. I just have to make sure the sleeves are long enough and it wouldn't be boxy!

Be careful buying brands such as North Face on eBay - there are many counterfeit items for sale there.
Oh, I am an AVID ebayer. I am very careful about what I buy and asking for pictures, etc.

Good to know Columbia seems to be a great substitute!

Steep and cheap is a site that does about 8 different things rotating constantly. They have good deals on jackets and gear but if you live out west it gets addicting.

I don't know if anyone has suggested this but I like moosejaw.com. They have good prices and will offer 20% off promotions.
