Budget hotel close to Disney

Rodeway Inn Kissimmee--about 25 to 30 bucks

Via hotels.com during promotions............the Continental Plaza Hotel in Kissimmee can be snagged for about 28-35 bucks

In July our friends stayed at Orlando Vista for $35 per night through hotwire. It's on 535(Apopka-Vineland) across from Crossroads. You literally take a right out of the parking lot and you're at the Downtown Disney entrance of Hotel Plaza Blvd. They have a continental breakfast. Our friends loved it. I prefer the Lake Buena Vista area over the places on 192.

Are these hotels roach free? I have drove down the main road in Kissimee and the rates for rooms is 1950's prices. How are the rooms for cleanliness? From the outside some of them look pretty good. A little older but look kept up.

I stayed at the Golden Link on 192 last month. $42/night including tax. It was very clean, had free wifi, fridge, and microwave. But the room just felt dated to me. One of the two beds was super hard and the TV was miniscule. I had no problems while staying there, but am going to look around a bit to see what else is out there, as there seem to be better deals to be had.

For the Rodeway Inn, I was looking at that one recently online. I was a little scared by the super-low price... Do they have free wifi? If I'm remembering correctly, some of their rooms have microwaves and fridges? Any thoughts on the level of cleanliness?

These places were most likely built in the 70's and have been updated over the years. Overall the rooms are in decent shape but it is always best to walk in the room...... look around.............operate the plumbing.....operate the AC/Heat.....and then either decide to keep that room or ask for a different one in the facility. At 35 bucks these are not a Holiday Inn, but our teenage daughter felt the room was fine in exchange for a 6 night stay. We have APs so she knows that inexpensive hotels allow us to take frequent trips, expensive places mean fewer trips.

The sheets have always been fresh, the towels were fine, and I have not seen any bugs.

With any of these places you can read reviews at tripadvisor.com.

These are budget places that I have visited. I have also stayed at places that cost 45-70, and although the places were nicer and newer inside, I prefer to put the money towards other things. We only sleep and shower in the room..............the rest of the day we are in the parks.

more thoughts-----I have not needed any food, shuttle, or wifi service so I can not comment on them.

About once a year we actually stay on site, so we are not opposed to spending a few bucks from time to time. We just can't afford to do it all the time!

I have used priceline a few times and had great success, but you don't get to choose the hotel, they give you a selection of which ones are available and you get what you get. I only priceline the highend hotels, thats the only way I justify staying there.

Others may disagree with me on this, but I'm NOT a fan of Priceline.

With enough research I LOVE priceline. Just in June DH and I got a wonderful hotel in Times Square for a Saturday night for $100.

That said, I do not like to use it if I had more than two people. They only guarantee accommodations for 2. I have used it for more than 2 in the past, but I don't like to chance it.

I use betterbidding and biddingfortravel boards before I book anything. For Hotwire I can usually predict what hotel I will get by using those two boards.

Another hotel I forgot about is the Holiday Inn Express-Lake Buena Vista East. It's right across from Walmart on 535, on Polynesian Isle Blvd. They actually had eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits on their continental breakfast. We paid $35/night for in June when we came down to house hunt. It was clean and the staff was falling all over themselves to help.

The accommodation for 2 thing, I get around that by sending the wife in to the front desk, she is easy on the eyes and always comes out to the van with a room big enough for the 5 of us.

I stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza in November and thought it was a nice hotel. It does charge parking and resort fee ($18 total for both) so you have to figure that into the cost. Our total cost per night was around $60.

but have NEVER seen it for $35! how did you snag that deal?

:):woohoo:

Hotwire. But there are two in Lake Buena Vista. The one on Palm Parkway and the one on Polynesian Isle Blvd. Both are off the same road, but the one we stayed at on Polynesian Isle Blvd is closer to the 192 end.

Any resort fees at this location?
