My car turned over 150k miles a month ago and the following week a distributor rotor cracked on it and the car stalled a mile from work. That was $240 including the towing fee as my insurance only covers $50 and i was near work which is 35miles from my mechanic. Fast forward to last week when the temperature started to rise and there was a crack in the radiator. Luckily we were able to drive it to mechanic so no towing but another $330. We didn't have to rent a car because our wonderful friends lent theirs to dh to go to work. (yes we filled the tank!).
Now I am having my dryer repaired because it sounded like a bird was chirping everytime I put it on. This will be another $250. Luckily we have savings but between gas prices on the rise (costing me alone another $30 a week extra dh probably $20) and the cost of everything else going up- its so hard to feel good about the economy. Luckily I coupon so we have cut our budget at least $300 a month when we took a 30% pay cut but I can't help but feel a little bitter about how hard it is to stay afloat nowadays. Thanks for letting me vent.
