I've been in a foul mood now for almost a day. A number of years ago DW had a rough pregnancy that we think was caused by messed up hormone levels. We ended up losing our daughter. Obviously this led to some dark days. Between the messed up hormones and gallons of Mountain Dew, DW's teeth began to fall apart...Literally would crumble in her mouth. A few years ago a big shiny building opened up for All Care Dental. She was embarassed by her teeth and didn't want to go to anyone in our small town so she drove 30 minutes to All Care. Well yesterday they went belly up with no notice. Problem is that she had a $1500 credit with them. She had taken a loan out to do some major repair work that was never completed. Two months ago, she went back with the intent to get things finally fixed up. They wanted to pull all her teeth and do dentures...she's only 33. They convinced her to take out another $2500 loan which she did. Now we are out $4000 with little hope of seeing any of it. We already paid off the first $1500 (it was actually more than that), but just never recieved full services for it. We'll be paying $100 a month for something like three years to pay off the second loan. I'll be filling a complaint with the attorney general's office and attempting a dispute with the loan company, but I just am not optimistic about ever seeing a dime. The only saving grace is that now doing research on All Care, I find out that they have always been a horrible company with a reputation for unneeded services. At least DW still has her teeth. We'll have to go to someone else now to find out what she really needs.

Thanks for the venting time. :sad1:

Oh my goodness. I hate that this has happened. Hopefully you will find a way out of it. I sympathize with your wife because I have had to have some expensive dental work done myself and that is not fun.

So sorry this has happened to you. All of the above mentioned practices also closed their doors in Cincinnati abruptly yesterday too. We saw it on the news. You have every right to be upset.

I feel your pain. I broke a tooth WAY back in 5th grade - the dentist skipped town leaving me with a rod implant into my gum after a root canal (the tooth cracked up into the gum)- I finally got a crown over it a year later. Two years ago now I found out that the original work by the scum bag dentist wasn't done correctly. While on a Disney vacation I thought my crown was coming loose so I called to make an appointment - went to the dentist and when he went to check the crown the entire tooth pulled out with one tug leaving jagged pieces behind.
So here is what I had to go through:
Waited two months to get into oral surgeon (on antibiotics the whole time)
Had tooth pulled - waited 10 weeks for jaw to heal over and bone to fill in.
Went in to have titanium plate installed on my jaw.
Waited 10 weeks for that to heal over.
Had retaining screw installed.
Waited 8 weeks for the gums to expand and fill in.
Went in to get fitted for prosthetic tooth.
Waited 4 weeks for that to come in.
finally had it installed on titanium rod that screw into the plate on my jaw. :scared1:
So - after all that - we are still paying off the work for a mistake that a crap dentist did YEARS ago.
It was either go through all that or get a parital - no thanks!

SO - my advice - get it done right by a dentist that you trust - and comes reccommended to you by another patient!

I had my wisdom teeth cut out and left with my tongue cut up - my cheeks sewn to my gums, a cut on my lip, and a creak in my jaw that took a year to go away.

Good luck with getting your $$$ back - I hope you get it all back so DW can get her teeth fixed! There is nothing worse that being afraid to smile, chew, bite etc.

Hope it works out well! :goodvibes

Go to the Attorney General's Office with proof, hopefully they can help! Also, if you have a dental school in your area, call! My sister was supposed to have a root canal from her dentist, but the cost made her go to a dental school. The student, upon checking out the x-rays and a deeper inspection noticed a popcorn kernel stuck in the gum!!! a small incision and a few days and all was well!
