BRP Change Fee Question

We booked our December trip right at the start of the BRP program. Were told re the cancellation fee, but told nothing re the change fee. We now need to drop a night.
Any way to get around the change fee, since we weren't warned about it and didn't know about it at the time we booked?
Also, ideas about whether it would be better to bring up the need for change now, or wait until we arrive at the resort?

Never mind. When I called, I didn't even have to ask to have the fee waived. The agent said, "I see when you booked, so no change fee applies."

I guess the change fees must not have kicked in at the outset of the program, which explains why they did not mention those to me at booking.

I booked in July. I just tried to drop a night for December and they were gong to charge me the change fee. I'll call back today.

How much is the change fee? I booked my whole stay at POFQ but I would like to stay part of the time at the Polynesian.

I'm no BRP expert, but my understanding is that it's $50 - but that the fee only applies if you're change results in a lower overall cost. So if you're upgrading or adding a day, no change fee applies.
