Brown Derby worth 2 credits?

We love the Brown Derby. I think it's worth the 2 credits, absolutely, but I'm biased. ;)

If you are on the DxDP, then yes, it is worth it.

However, if you are on the regular dining plan, I don't think it is. If you break it down, a TS credit on the DDP is worth roughly $30. For using 2 TS credits to hold any sort of savings, a meal would have to cost you $60 per person. If you look at the menu on allears, the most expensive entree is the filet at $40. The most expensive dessert is $9. Even if you add in $3 for a beverage, that's only $52 (or $26 per TS credit). Plus tip and any alcohol or appitizers would all still be paid OOP.

That is just my opinion, I personally don't feel there is much value in using 2 TS credits at any restaurant.

I agree with the above poster, OhthePain. It's not worth it if you're paying out of pocket or on the regular dining plan. The other 2 credit table service restaurants are much better in quality and value. HBD is not a bad restaurant. It's a very nice restaurant and a great respite from the park; however, I don't think it's at the same level as California Grill, Citricos, or any of the other 2 credit table service options.

Thanks everyone! I had California Grill on the list for that day as a maybe, also WCC,50s and Chef Mickeys...So if we got with a 2 credit place it will be to California Grill. And we are on the regular dining plan.

Also, are you planning on doing the signature with the kids or just you and DH? Maybe put the kids into babysitting for a couple of hours and then the 2 of you can splurge a bit and treat yourselves to a nice meal, OOP, without the kids. Afterall, your on vacation too.

The food is very very good. But as far as worth - I would look at the menu and see what you would order compared to if you decided to choose two 1 credit restaurants and see how much $ that would be.
If you go to say Le Cellier & Tutto (just picking 2 Epcot restaurants that have high priced items), then it might not be worth it, but if you went to 2 lower TS restaurants and got cheap items - like Sci Fi and something else, then it might be worth it $ wise. So its hard to say if it is worth it unless you are actually comparing it to the menu prices of 2 other restaurants. Brown Derby is (at least in my experience) the lower end of the signatures money wise.
I think it is worth the money since it is very good though. The food and service are top notch.

Thats not our experience. We are on the deluxe plan, not that it would make a difference because you just add or remove apps to both and for say Tony's we spend $74, LTT (lunch) $60 - dinner would be about the same, Kona $70 and then for Cali Grill $145, Narcoosees $142, Jiko $135 - so the 2 credit TS are double the cost in some cases. Yes sometimes it doesn't pay off, but sometimes it does.

I would say that it is worth it if you have the fantasmic package. It is worth using 2 ts if you get reserved seats. We like HBD, but only go there with the fantasmic package, otherwise we spend the 2 ts on something really good, like Citricos or Cali Grill.

We were planning on the kids, but this is a really good idea. We might have to do that. DH will just be getting back from being gone( he's in the Navy) and will be after our vacation for 9 more months. We did decided to WCC for July 4th though. Thanks everyone! Love having my friends here to ask!:thumbsup2

We have the Fantasmic package but I will pay OOP. HBD is a la carte for the package and we are going at lunch, so I'll likely just have the Cobb Salad - not way would that be worth two credits (barely worth one credit)! And I'm not going to order more, just to get value for the credits.

We didn't think that it was worth 2 credits at all. It was OK for a one credit meal, but not worth 2 for sure.

I think you may have the answer to my question!

We have the fantasmic package booked for 3:40! We're on the deluxe plan, so we're talking apps, entree and dessert! I can't imagine wanting all that at 3:40, so I was hoping we could just order apps, pay OOP and get the tickets. I called Dining and was told (by a CM who didn't sound particularly knowledgeable) that you had to have an entree. Do you know differently from experience?

And, if I can pay OOP, then we can get room service when we get back to our room! How fun!

Umm...no. I just assumed it would be okay. Also, looking at the menu, the salad was also down as an entree (although it isn't now when I look at the WDW site).

Maybe someone will come along and confirm things.
