Brown Derby v. 50s Prime Time

we've done both for lunch

i like the brown derby best - cobb salad and grapefruit cake is a perfect meal for me (DH just sits and watches me eat - he doesn't like the lunch menu)

DH prefers 50s for lunch - pot roast and sundae for dessert (whereas i'll just get a cup of the chicken noodle soup and the angel food cake with berries for dessert)

there are more "comfort food" choices at 50s

i like both for what they are and offer in terms of atmosphere and menu

but personally, i'm all for the cobb salad!

Brown Derby is fancier, costlier, and more choices, but great food.

50s Prime Time is a smaller menu of basic family comfort foods, plus the theme and antics, usually a fun place.

Gosh too hard to decide. You cannot go wrong picking one or the other -- really it's just a matter of whether you want fine food or good fun.

We really enjoyed our lunch at the Brown Derby in January. Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake - Yummy!

50's Prime Time hasn't impressed us the last two times we were there.

I vote for the Brown Derby.

I didn't enjoy the Brown Derby at all. I found the food to be rather 'blah.' However, each time I have been to 50's Primetime I have enjoyed my meal. I guess it all depends on what you like.

One other thing I remember now: Brown Derby hasn't been very kid-friendly in our experience, while 50s Prime Time Cafe has always been very accommodating of the special needs of our little ones.

I have never cared for 50's prime time.. did it once and was not wowed...

However, I do love the Brown Derby and always do lunch there.. consistently good food with even better service.

DW and I have been to 50's Prime Time several times and while we enjoy the comfort food, we get a little tired of the 50's waitress shtick. We always avoided Brown Derby, thinking it would be a little pricey. On our last trip to MGM we did not have ADR and Brown Derby was the only restaurant that would take us as walk-ins, so we gave it a try. Boy were we suprised. We loved the whole experience. The food was wonderful, the service was great and, although not as kid friendly as most WDW restaurants, we had a great time. And the price was not much more than eating in any other MGM restaurant. They won us over and we will go back.

Our kids had fabulous meals there the waitress was so good with them. They got grilled or baked chicken with green beans & mashed potatoes. She brought the kids coloring pages. Kept them busy.

Wish we had a decent waitress like that, or a decent hostess.

I haven't tried the 50's Diner...but my family and I love the Brown Derby. It's our favorite place to eat at MGM!!!
