Brooklynn takes Bella to see Cinderella. Last thread.

Last night John and I took the girls to the Botanical Gardens to drive through the Christmas lights. We do it every year on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Brooklynn always climbs up front and sits in my lap as we drive through. So when we got there last night I unbuckled Brooklynn and then went to get Bella. She was asleep in her carseat and I almost didn't wake her up, but I decided to in the end. So I had both girls in my lap and we start driving through and Isabella started jumping up and down and squawking and squealing and pounding on the window. She was SO excited!!! It was so adorable. Brooklynn kept pointing things out to her "Look, Izzy, there's Santa Claus." "Sister is right here. Do you see the reindeer?" They were so sweet and now I absolutely cannot wait until we get to see the Osborne Lights. Isabella is going to be thrilled!!!

On a side note, did you guys know that Trent has the audacity to leave for Disney World tomorrow without me or MeMom? I think that is completely unacceptable and he better bring me back something good to make up for it!

My DD is going for the day on Thur. without me, but I told her she had to use her Birthday card to buy my Christmas present! :goodvibes

I got E-tickets for her and a friend to be in the parade filming - not something I want to sit through anyway, but I didn't tell her that;)

That's very sad about the fire in your student's home. I'll definitely say a prayer for the little guy and his family. :(

According to my mom, when I was 2 or 3 and we'd be driving around looking at Christmas lights I'd say "pretty ights!" No L :rotfl:

MeMom, so sorry to hear about that poor family :sad1:

MeMom, so sorry about your student. If there is anything we can help out with, please let me know.

Jill Sounds like Bella liked the lights. Brooklyn is a great big sister!

Brooklynn is crazy over Bella!
She's always talking to her and loving on her.
She wants to try to carry her sometimes, because she thinks she's half-grown!

I am going to go back and try to catch up with these responses, but it's just been a whirlwind couple of days. We were able to get the two kids new backpacks and school supplies this afternoon. My boy was worried about not having a planner to put his homework in. We got him a new one and he was so happy to be normal again. Interesting how comforting just having a planner can be to a kid who has lost his home, his clothes, his toys, and his security. Humbles me in a big way seeing him right now only wanting everything to be as usual.

I have some good friends and family who have offered to help, and we're going to come up with some gift cards and food. I'm guessing anybody in their situation would be happy with cards from Target, Walmart, and Kroger. Does that sound good to you guys? I'd really like opinions and suggestions. I'd love to present M's mom with a basket of cards and a big box of food soon. I even thought about a Toys R Us card, but then I wasn't sure. She's going to need to shop for toys quickly, and I'm sure she is dealing with a million things right now on the homefront. Pray for strength for the parents as they juggle all of this during this holiday time.

Added: I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face right now. I just got a message from Scott saying he was sending a $25 card for Walmart. He doesn't know these people from the man in the moon, yet he is going to touch their lives. I think I've just needed to cry a few minutes about this whole situation since I found out yesterday, and that was what made the tears finally flow. I'm going to sit here and allow myself a good cry, and then I think I will be able to put on my game face and get ready to help this family get through these holiday weeks ahead!

MeMom,
You know we all want to help. I know this weighs so heavy on you. You are one of kind !

I am sure the American Red Cross is helping this family too but they are out there to help if they have not already stepped in.

Pming you now.

I am just now learning about that poor little boy and his family. My heart just breaks thinking about it. I will keep them in my prayers. I am going to PM you about it.

That is just too precious!

Boo on Trent for going to WDW without ya'll. He's going to have to make up for it by bringing back some excellent presents!

I crashed about 9:30 last night, so I am not such a zombie this morning!

I am so touched by those of you who are sending gift cards to my student's family. I am going to put them all in an envelope and give them to his mom, along with a big box of food, right before the break. I know they need 'needs', but with little kids, there has to be some fun stuff, too - gotta have some Christmas Oreos and coloring books and such! Macaroni and cans of corn aren't that exciting to 5 and 7 year olds. :)

I will happily tell them of my good DIS friends, and I can assure you that your kindness will be very much appreciated.

Thank you so, so much on behalf of this good family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family who lost thier home.

How devastating for them.

I'm touched by your act of kindness to help your student.

It's so heart warming to hear about all the DIS friends who are willing to help too.

:grouphug:

Did I miss something.....why is Trent going to WDW without you both?

Is there nothing sacred....:rotfl:

I don't have any pictures between DTD and this next picture. I'm guessing we went back to the room for a bit or transferred somewhere, but I can't remember.

Of course, we all know that we did not go straight from DTD to MK. :)

There was no wait for Haunted Mansion, and we knew Erica would want us to ride this for her, so we did.

I tried to get the ghosts in the mirror.

From there, it was on to Pirates.

Indeed, Trent is on his way there tonight. He is meeting up with some friends and hoping to meet some new ones, as well. I think he's coming back Saturday.

Hope he gets to meet up with DD25 (tomorrow)

She'll be the one wearing the goofy elf cloths and boots and the crazy Christmas hat, hoping to get some air time on Christmas morning :goodvibes
I told her to call Trent so they could meet up, and she said she didn't want some good looking guy seeing her all dressed up and looking like a dork! I did remind her that she just might be seen like that on national TV:rolleyes1

I hope he does, too. I hope she gets on TV! :cool1:

She shouldn't worry. I could drag out some pretty crazy pictures of him, too. Since his basketball coach never wanted him to play football (for fear of breaking bones for basketball season), he always enjoyed getting crazy and cheering on his football buddies who in turn cheered him on during soccer and basketball seasons. He's been seen in wigs and paint and possibly even a cheerleader outfit. :cheer2:

I'm slow, but I'm here. MeMom, you have such a tender heart. I'm so glad God placed you in this family's life "for such a time as this." Even in this horrible situation, they are blessed. Count me in as one who will be praying.

MK at night is just the best.

I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your student's home! What an awful thing to happen, and so close to the holidays. I am brought to tears by the generosity I have read pouring from you, friends, family and the DIS!

I think your idea of gift card is an EXCELLENT one. That way Mom & Dad can get toys, household needs, food, etc. whatever they need.

I hope you have more peace about the entire situation now and are sleeping better. :goodvibes

Thanks for the prayers. Can you just imagine how your kids would be doing right now if they were having to go through the loss of all of their possessions? And if you had Christmas presents stashed away in closets and now you had to start from scratch? :sad2:

Magic Kingdom is pretty on a hot summer night, and it will be pretty all dressed in red and green in a few more weeks, too. :)

I have shed a few tears, too. I think I just needed a good cry that second night. Since then, it's been full speed ahead in getting things to help them out. I called the church to see about getting some food or a gift card. I was told I could get both. When I picked up the card, I expected it to be for about $50. It was for $250!!! I literally said 'Wow!' out loud!

I am sleeping normally abnormal again now. ;)
If I ever make it to 4 something, it's a miracle.
I seem to be stuck in the 3 something zone.
I guess that's better than 2 something. :thumbsup2
