Broadway Club

I heard Avenue Q is still going to be playing only not on the higher broadway. (I don't know what you'd call that? lol. I read it on perezhilton I believe)

I really really want to see Next to Normal. That's next on my list since I can't see RENT or Avenue Q.

Phantom in 8 days
Shrek in 18
Billy Elliot in 18
Next to Normal in 19!! WOOT
Wicked in 20
God of Carnage in 21
South Pacific in 21

Yeah, they've moved it to off-Broadway. I believe it's also in the same (large) playhouse as The Toxic Avenger.

I am so freaking jealous of all you who are going to see Next to Normal. I am in love with that show (and Aaron Tveit is a god...). I'm trying to get my two best friends (who are totally into musical theatre) to listen to it, but they're both stuck on Songs for a New World and won't.
But my school's orchestra is going to Carnegie Hall over spring break, and we're seeing the Lion King on broadway, which I'm excited for, but I already saw it in London, and I really wanted to see Next to Normal or Ragtime. Unfortunately, most of spring break we're just staying in town and practicing so I can't go to New York early with my family to see some other shows. They might go without me though :(

Hey guys, Mom and I are going to NYC in November. What show should we see?

We've seen Wicked twice, and Mom HATES Phantom (blasphemy!!). We've also seen Mamma Mia! recently.

Idk about the price or availability of tickets or whether it's even playing anymore but, WEST SIDE STORY.
Absofreakinglutely AMAZING.
i saw it with my choir on our NY trip.

That's my suggestion. :]

Quoth the Wikipedia:
Next to Normal is a Tony Award winning rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.

Next to Normal or In the Heights (I saw in the heights with the original cast on broadway. Incredible. I'm in love with it.)

I'm packing for NYC.... 4 more days!!! :DDD

I can NOT NOT NOT wait to see Next to Normal.. TMZ had celebs outside of the theater the other day and I was like ZOMG I'm gonna be there.

November 21/22! Weekend trip!

We're aiming to see Shrek, but not 100% confirmed.

I totally wish I lived closer to NYC!

But fwiw, I'm seeing Phantom in phx at the end of this month.

I also recently saw legally blonde. It was here for a week.

I just saw Phantom last Sunday. I liked the tour cast better than I liked the Broadway cat when I saw it a few years back xD

Christine and Rauol (sp) were awesome! Same with Firmin and Andre.

Not a fan of the Phantom (wanted to slap him, really, didn't hold any power to me, he was a wimp), Madame Giry (no accent at all), or Meg. Piangi was pretty good for his role, Carlotta not so much.

I never realized how confusing Phantom can be when you don't have a general idea of the plot.

My top five broadway shows:

1. Little Mermaid
2. Phantom
3. Wicked
4. Beauty and the Beast
5. Les Mis

I know they're not all playing right now...but still...

Its really hard to put them into a set order of 1-5!

Legally Blonde opened their tour run here. It was quite exciting. That opened here, Grease's national tour opened here, and just this past week, Young Frankenstein's tour!

Have fun seeing Phantom! Lovely show, incredible, really.

And I live about 3-4 hours from NYC (by bus/car).

I agree! If you don't know the plot of Phantom, you're totally lost. It's not like, say, Legally Blonde, where you don't have to have had seen the movie to understand the show.

Personally, I think Michael Crawford is one of the best Phantoms. (When I saw the show--tour cast, 2006 I believe--we saw like, the 2nd understudy, but he was pretty good!) Then again, I do like the movie Christine better. Emmy Rossum has a lovely voice. Gerard Butler? Don't even get me started on him as the Phantom! :headache:

It's a shame you didn't have a better Giry or Meg. Or Carlotta!
