Broadband at OKW

Does anyone know if the recent renovations at OKW includes broadband connections in the rooms? If yes, what are the charging?

High Speed Internet Access is being installed in many Walt Disney World resorts. In-room access is currently available at Coronado Springs, Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, and the Beach Club Villas. Tentative dates for bringing other resorts "up to speed" are:

BoardWalk (including DVC units) - February 9, 2004
Villas at the Wilderness Lodge - February 16, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004
Saratoga Springs - April 29, 2004

Access requires a Local Area Network (LAN) cable. The price is $9.95 for 24 continuous hours, charged to your room account.

We were at OKW last week and they came into our room and installed a DSL line.

OKW is NOT yet up and running (April 25). The note in my room says service is in progress and generally NOT available. (I am on dial up!)

Bcv had high speed internet, not the poly, only dial up

This is cool.

I could actually do my job from inside DisneyWorld.
Maybe not, I would never have the intitiative to sit at my computer and work, with so much fun just outside my door.

However, for personal email, and downloading photos, bringing the computer is not such a bad idea.

I tried it last week and had a half hour uninterupped session but they did leave a note telling you to use dial up as you may be disconnected at any time! I was just lucky. It should be ready soon so bring your cables.

And bring a reasonably long cable is my understanding, as the actual jacks are in awkward places at the moment. When we stayed at the Contemporary in Dec they had a device up on the desktop to plug into. Maybe they are running behind on these to make it easier to hookup.

I'd also note something, it should be very easy to plug it in the right jack, I don't think you can get a networking cable in a phone jack, the connector on the networking cable is wider.

Don't think the Poly is even on the list for getting it yet?

I'll find out if OKW is fully up 4 weeks from now!

Just back from OKW and they were installing the high speed internet service. They said service would be sporadic until sometime in May when they would be ready to officially turn it on.

Doe sanyone know if BWV is up yet? I saw the schedule says February but just wondering if anyone has seen it or used it.

Yes, there have been reports of BWV being fully up. I think the reason they're having difficulty with OKW is due to the fact it's not all in one building. That adds new wrinkles in stringing cables.

They installed it in our room at okw last week but it wasn't working yet when we left yesterday
