Brittany Murphy died

Very strange that her husband opposes an autopsy.

Whatever the cause of death, it's a terrible shame. She was so cute and talented and way too young. I first saw her in "Don't Say a Word" and thought her acting was awesome.

Just so sad.

Apparently now the husband strongly opposes an autopsy. Sounds fishy to me...

May she RIP. I LOVED her in Uptown Girls and Just Married.

Sounds very fishy. He's hiding something if he is opposing an autopsy.

It doesn't matter what the husband wants if there is a police investigation. Geez, wonder why he doesn't want an autopsy?

This is true. Family has no say in whether they get an autopsy or not. It just makes him look bad if he is opposing one.

I remember her best from the Torkelsons. She was so cute then. I liked that look better than the newer one someone posted several pages back-more real. I remember the 1st time I saw her with the blond straight hair, on some talk show, I didn't even recognize her until she started talking. So very sad.

Really? I thought there were certain religions that opposed autopsies and were allowed to refuse them? Or because it's a police investigation, an autopsy has to be conducted but the family doesn't need to know the results if they don't wish to?

I just find it strange he doesn't want an autopsy. I think if the love of my life just drops dead at such a young age, I would want to know why for closure. But everyone grieves in different ways I suppose. There were apparently rumors of drug use between them though, and that's what makes it strange..

Her DH is very Jewish - they had a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony and he follows the tenants.

Jews don't believe in disfiguring the body after death and it's generally prohibited by the religion.

Doesn't mean he did anything to her.:sad2: There's been well publicised rumors for years about her drug use.

No one ever said anything about him doing anything to her. :confused3 For all we knew she could've been a closet druggie and her husband knew, but he doesn't want an autopsy because she didn't want anyone to know. It's not necessarily about if he did anything to her, but perhaps if she had any secrets she didn't want the world to know.

That would also be her family's perogative, no? And yes, there were prior posts that thought it sounded "suspicious" that he didn't want an autopsy.

I didn't mean he did anything to her. My thought is her death was from drug use. If they find that to be the case, they may take a hard look at ther husband's possible drug use.

BTW, in a police investigation, a Jewish family may request that a rabbi be present but the autopsy will happen.

When I posted that I was thinking some religions might be exempt. But if it's a suspicious death (cardiac arrest in a seemingly healthy 32 year old is suspicious) then I would think they would require it. I'm not entirely sure but I know that in a lot of police investigations, even if you didn't want an autopsy on your loved one, it is done anyway.

Oh, how sad! I just read about her death. So young and so darn talented. I loved her in Clueless, it's one of my favorite movies. I think my favorite clip is when she tells Alicia Silverstone in her New Joisey accent 'why should I listen to you anyway, you're a virgin, who can't drive.' Hilarious. What a shame, only 32 and a whole life ahead of her.

I don't think HE did anything to her. I just think that if he didn't want an autopsy that he might be doing something HIMSELF that he would want to hide. I do not believe he intentionally harmed her. Activities that they both might partake in might have contributed to her death so that is why he doesn't want them to know the real cause of her death.

If the police are investigating they are going to want an autopsy. It doesn't really matter if her family doesn't want her body to be cut open. If this was a natural death, meaning no drugs were involved in her death, then wouldn't her family want to know? That would be so important for anyone else in the family to know because naturally dying of cardiac arrest at 32 is very, very rare.

I know if my family member died, the thought of them being cut open by an autopsy would make me sick but if it needs to be done to determine the cause of death it is important.

This is such a sad story. I couldn't believe it when I read it on Twitter this afternoon. Prayers for her family. :sad1:

While very likely drug related, until there is a coroner's report released, it is all the very definition of hearsay.

Especially when Perez Freaking Hilton is the "source." Blech.

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles County coroner's official says it appears actress Brittany Murphy died of natural causes.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. today. Murphy was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. at the home Murphy shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter says the cause of Murphy's death "appears to be natural."

I heard earlier that she was a diabetic. Don't know if this contributed to her death.

So sad...someone else said it here but she had a very distinctive, voice.

I was just reading about her in one of my magazines, maybe it was US Weekly or another one I was browsing at the supermarket. They had a chart about celebrity weight gains and losses and hers, if I am recalling correctly, was very low as of late, and she had lost a good 15-20 pounds recently and she was skin and bones. She said in the article that she "loved to eat" but I just remembered reading that in the last 2 or 3 weeks. In fact, I think she was in more than one mag recently and her body was so small that her head looked distorted.
