During a transatlantic flight, an elderly man died after exhaustive attempts to resusitate him. A first class passenger who said that he paid $3000 for his first class seat found himself with a new seat mate. The dead body was moved from economy class to first class and propped up beside the reluctant passenger. On the radio this morning he reported that the body kept slipping and he was horrified. Complaints were met with "get over it". I for one would expect a full refund and first class passage on any BA flight to make up for this. Maybe it is too early. WHere in the article does it say "get over it?"

It also didn't seem to me that any of the quotes listed there from any passenger indicated any comment even remotely like "Get over it". Sounds like BA is handling the situation as well as it can...not much you can do with a dead body on a plane over the Atlantic other than pretty much what they did.

I would be grateful I was in first class and sitting by someone really really quiet!;)

I agree.

If there are other sources, I do have to wonder if someone is trying o get stuff from BA. I feel sad for the wife of the deceased.:sad1:

Wait a second! Dawns report says it is a MAN, Pappas says it was a WOMAN.

Is this even for real? Or were there two?

There are two different incidents here. This article quoted by Dawn happened in November. The thread that was posted by Lindsay was about a new incident that just happened. In this recent case, the complaining passenger was told to "get over it". Both happened on British Airways though. I think perhaps BA needs to come up with a new solution .

Bob, I wouldn't be flying BA when you make your move.

I didn't read the links, but is there really nothing else that could have been done? What if first class had been fully booked? What would they have done then?

As a matter of fact, was the whole plane fully booked? How about moving some people and giving the poor guy his own row?

Regardless, a sad story. :(

In this most recent instance, the guy was told to "get over it." I don't think that's acceptable. I'm not sure if he was actually seated next to the dead woman, though.

Apparently this isn't a completely uncommon occurrence, someone dying on a flight. You'd think they'd have some sort of procedure in place for situations like this.

No way would I be able to sit next to a dead body. I really don't think it's a case of whining.... not everyone is comfortable being around the formerly living. Perhaps there was a mortician on board who wouldn't have minded sitting next to the deceased.

The article that I read mentioned that Singapore Airlines has a "corpse cupboard" for this very type of situation! :scared1:

This is how BA handles these situations. This is the appropriate thing to do.
