For those of you who have recently flown Britannia Premium, or are booked to do so - did you pay to pre-book meals?

We've booked Premium but have NOT pre-booked meals on the basis that the blurb about Premium says an upgraded meal is included. However, every time I get an invoice / statement (and now the actual tickets), it clearly states 'no pre booked meal option'. I have queried this with Thomsons who assure me we will be fed in Premium, but I can't help worrying about it.

Last time we flew Britannia Premium, the meals were included for everyone and there were none of the current 'would-you-like-to-pay-extra-for-just-about-everything?' options to consider.

Any experiences to put my mind at rest, anyone?

Hi,

I am flying in Premium with Britannia on the 24th June. I was told the same thing as you regarding an "upgraded" meal, and so haven't paid any extra for food.
I also get the same notice on my invoices about not having purchased a meal (I can't remember what my ticket says as I am in work at the moment). I have noticed that nowhere on my invoices or ticket does it say that I am even booked into premium, yet I have been assured that I am :confused3

I'm sure that a meal will be supplied. I have a feeling that their software just isn't sophisticated enough to cope with all the different types of booking. (It is a bit bad when I have had to phone several times to clarify things that should have been made clear on my invoices)

I am only travelling for a week (will land back home on the 2nd July) When are you flying out? If there is time, I could let you know how my flight was when I get back if no one else can help before then.

Thanks, that would be great as we don't fly until 8th July :)

I'm quite reassured just knowing you've had the same experience in booking, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it all works out well for you!

No problem.

I shall be taking some snacks on-board just in case :mickeybar

I'll get back to you in a couple of weeks.

P.S Where are you flying from? I'm on the Birmingham flight!!

We're flying from Birmingham too - first time from there for us, but it's not too far from m-i-l so we'll leave our car at her house and have a taxi.

BTW, I forgot to say a great big welcome to the DIS boards

Thank you. Although I have to confess that I’ve been lurking for years. I finally signed up at the beginning of the year and have kept meaning to jump in and chat, but felt too shy.
:wave2:

Awww! don't be shy, the Dis bunch are a very friendly crew! :flower:

It's a few years since we used the Britannia service but from memory flying Premium, we were asked to select our meal from a list before the flight. I only remember this because fish and chips was one of the options and I thought this was a bit strange for in-flight food.

it clearly states 'no pre booked meal option'.
So, could this mean that you have not yet selected your meal option, or maybe that you haven't selected say, a vegetarian meal? As Hayley said though, it could just be that the software isn't that sophisticated to distinguish between the european pay-for-all-extras model and the US food-inclusive version. I can't imagine that they would not feed you on a 9 hour flight!

No longer a moderator Hilary - oh no! You get used to 'familiar faces'; glad to see you'll still be around though.

And another 'welcome' from me too Hayley; no need to feel shy ;)
