Bristol Palin on The View~

That's certainly open for debate.

I don't think the things Bristol (or Willow, for that matter) said are any different from what the majority of people their age say. And I stand by the fact that they were attacked first. Plus, if this is simply a comment on the whole facebook thing... I would venture to guess that the other people involved have probably moved on from it a lot quicker than the rest of the nation. It's teenage, high school drama. They were sticking up for their family. It's not like the exchange took place between random strangers.

Does it matter who was attacked first?

Is this PeeWee's Playhouse?

Does it matter if all the other kids their age do it? I can say with certainty that you would never hear my teens using those words.

Your attitude that it is just "teenage, high school drama" is a poor one and probably a big contributor to why teens think this type of behavior and disparaging language is acceptable. Our teens need to be spoken to about how damaging this sort of language can be.

Anyone who puts themselves in the position of being a "celebrity" and then uses anti-gay slurs deserves to be called out for it.

I feel for the Palin girls and I don't blame them for defending their family, but I can't condone they way they did it.

And you would know that how?

First of all they are older than Bristol - 27, 26 and 25 so I hardly think they are looking for a little 19 year old. They definitely don't think she's cool! Perhaps because they are college educated (one in law school) and dating women who are definitely un-Bristol like, their experience may be different that yours.

I have to ask - what exactly makes her coo? The potty mouth, the anti-gay slurs, please tell me more!

What does being college educated have to do with it? Unless you are saying because Bristol is not college educated and was a pregnant teen, that somehow makes her not good enough.

It seems so funny that the newest posters know so much about Dissers and are so upset when someone dares to suggest that Bristol is not the sweet little innocent that she tries to portray.

Do I smell trolls?

What makes her "coo" is the fact that she knows how to deal with all the haters out there who have nothing better to do with their time than pick on a 19 year old single mother.

And she, in turn, couldn't think of a better way to defend herself than to bash gay people.

I'm so glad that you're satisfied with how she dealt with the haters. :goodvibes

No, what I said was in answer to someone saying that my sons probably thought Bristol was "cool". I think that if you are educated you hardly think someone using anti-gay slurs and foul language is "cool".

So people who are college educated can't be bigoted against gays? If you are a college grad, and you are bigoted against gays, and someone uses a gay slur, you might very well think it's cool.

When it comes to that, I don't think being educated necessarily means anything. People will have their own personal views about gays whether they have a college education, high school, or less.

Is that "educated" speak?

Sorry - I'm rushing so I'm not checking for typos.

I'm sure that the anti-gay, foul mouth exchanges from Bristol sounded much less educated than a typo on an internet board.

You seem like such a fan - are you a teenager?

WOW!

Do you know her?

I have to give you some credit with your dog & a bone posts.
It took me a long time to grow "ears" on the DIS.

JFK Jr. was a true philanthropist so he is very high on the ladder in my eyes.

I still think Bristol is a horrible dancer & should stick to fishing & hunting.

LOL! Pretty easy to be a philanthropist when you can dig into the money coffers of your wealthy family!!

And he could have simply been a playboy, spending his family's money. But he became a lawyer, worked in the Manhattan DA's office, published a magazine. Who knows what else he could have done?

Was thinking that as well.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Jealousy has nothing to do with it.

Jealous of what? Her looks? Her intelligence? Her talent? Her education? Her class? People are jealous of others with extraordinary quaities, or luck. Bristol is quite an ordinary person......but then again, she's very, very lucky. She lucked into a show without any merit on her own, just because of her mother.....maybe some could be jealous of that, I guess

The one thing that I found with Bristol was that she did the same three or four movements over and over again. - shaking the shoulders - how many times did she do that to different kinds of music. I found that yes, she did improve what little she did. The dances all seemed to be similiar - just different music. There was no a lot of variety. I think the reason why some people were so upset was that some dancers - Brandy, Audrina and even Rick - should have stayed longer but were bumped instead.

Besides the finger bit, I noticed that she really was believeing that people were voting for her because "she improved so much"...............Too much!

Those who kept her for so long didn't do her any favors. It looks like she's deluded herself into thinking the show has launched a carreer on TV for her. She talked about having her own talk show or something similar. It's goint to be a rude awakening

Sooooooo true. There have been multiple threads with all sorts of NASTY Bristol related comments.....they certainly seem to be politically motivated. :confused3

And the indignant, over the top defense of her where every criticism is seen as an attack on this "child" isn't politically motivated? I'd bet that none of then would have come to the defense of Chelsea Clinton, not even when she was really a child; and not even because Chelsea has always never seeked the limelight and publicity the way Bristol does. It goes both ways -except for long time fans of the show who felt (rightfully so) that Bristol's being saved week after week over more deserving contestants lowered the quality of the contest and made for a poorer contest

Yea he was a great lawyer, took him 3 tries to pass the BAR exam.

Was he the only lawyer in history that took 3 times to pass the bar? Somehow I doubt that. (In fact, I know it's not true. I know a very smart guy who never managed to pass the bar.) But whatever, you love Bristol so she's OK.

Ok....I'm sorry I started this thread.

Don't play with trolls. Happy Thanksgiving!

What does Bristol's having a child before marriage and engaging in an inappropriate facebook rant have to do with her advancing on DWTS? If you want to be frustrated about her advancing, that's one thing. But to dig into her personal life and start criticizing because people are voting to keep her in is extremely childish.

I don't know. Pehaps thse comments are in response to those saying what a nice, sweet, "inspirational" person she is? :confused3

Just leave Bristol alone.

Glad you edited yourself. That was truly not allowed to be said here. I understand what getting angry here can be like but yikes! I'm sure that is the kind of thing that all those kids on fb were doing--speaking in anger, in the heat of the moment, without thinking. Just glad it was 12:33 and not many people are up tonight.

As someone who was bullied throughout most of middle school and high school, I stand by my comment that it's just teenage, high school drama. They're all giving it as well as they're taking it and I simply disagree that the language in this particular exchange is damaging.

And the indignant, over the top defense of her where every criticism is seen as an attack on this "child" isn't politically motivated? Some of the defense might be politically motivated, but not all of it. I defended Chelsea Clinton and I would defend the Obama girls, too. I've watched DWTS since day one and I strongly disagree with your assessment. This is how the show works.

Ok....I'm sorry I started this thread.

Don't play with trolls. Happy Thanksgiving!

Just people disagree with you doesn't necessarily make them trolls.
