Bringing your own drinks into the parks to avoid the never ending price hikes

Oh, really? Ewwwww.
Really.

We ended up going to Publix to buy bottles.

Now we just pack enough water when we leave. We pack gallon jugs to use in our kettle for tea. And one personal bottle per person, per day. Then if we need to, we will refill our bottles throughout the day with water from counter service.

Don’t know how I made it to my ripe old age. And my dad did construction for fifty years without a water bottle just a bottle of iced tea in his lunch box. And my grandpa as a farmer who just had a cup of coffee in his thermos. We’ve become an alarmist society. My four year old grandson had to have water breaks three times during his 30 minute soccer class last week on a fifty degree morning!

Just because you didn't die doesn't mean you weren't dehydrated.

So is the water from counter service better than from the water fountains? I tell you, I only drink from the tap here at home if we are completely out of bottled water. I had to do it a couple weeks ago. It was OK, but not my preference at all.

Remember, it's all personal opinion. We've never had water at Disney that we felt was "bad". Even from the fountains.

The water from QS places is filtered.

Yup.

I went in thinking the worst because of all the comments. Never had to use the crystal light packs. Between the courtesy cups, refilling at the water fountains and ordering water at every meal never had this awful much less sulfur taste...with exception to Skipper Canteen water which was TS. It didn't taste like sulfur though just really strong tap water.

No problems here, either. I drink only tap water at home so maybe that's why.

I regularly drink tap water at home and at work.

But not at Disney .

That said I can and do drink the water from counter service

Brita bottles are the best, IMHO! One suggestion - try to find a smaller (kid's size) version. I have one that fits quite nicely in my purse. It tastes fine and is easy to refill at water fountains as necessary. I just don't get why people buy and/or lug around water bottles when a refillable bottle is such a simple solution.

The Brita filter bottles were sufficient for us. Except I lost mine and the water without the filter was awful, IMO.

We personally didn't need filters (though we did bring crystal light drink packs in case we just didn't end up using them) but we used basically this:

Wouldn't work for those who like filters since the point it to roll it up, but it was lightweight, bpa free, clipped onto our bag, rolled up when not in use, etc. Ours was actually something my husband had gotten from a vendor so it didn't cost us anything but they aren't expensive at all.

I use something like this too! Was great to be able to stow it away when we weren't using it. Mine actually comes with a filter but I didn't use it at all.

Oh you had a filter? That's pretty cool. I didn't think a filter would really work with it folded up but maybe there's different filters than I'm thinking of you can use with that. That would be a good selling point for someone who is specifically looking for something with filters.

I would totally use it again for us. It was so easy to clip onto our park bag (which was a waterproof bag bought from Amazon) and go :)

It could detach from it so it would still roll up. I just checked Amazon and they don't have the product anymore. I'm definitely using mine again for my trip in 7 days!

Well that's awesome to know that they at least make something like that, at least in the past.

Have a great trip :)

To us, the "simple solution" is to buy water in the parks when we need it and only carry a bottle for a few minutes. A lot of people (our family is part of this group) prefer not to carry *anything* around the parks. If it doesn't lay flat and/or comfortably fit in a pocket it doesn't go with us. I have a clear lanyard phone pouch that holds my phone, credit card, ID, and a little cash. I put a few tissues in my pocket along with my lip gloss. That's all that goes to the park with us.

This! I hate carrying anything around. If it doesn't fit in my pocket, I don't need it. I actually get excited when we stay on property and take the bus so I don't have to carry my car keys lol
We don't usually buy soda in the park, we've found that we feel MUCH better not drinking it (we're not big soda drinkers anyway). We just drink the free water, and have never noticed any sort of taste to it. Maybe because I live in Florida and drink (filtered) tap water all the time?

We bring everything into the parks...lunch, dinner, soda, etc... It's super easy. We don't carry it around with us. We put it in a giant cooler bag that goes in an umbrella stroller. We park it somewhere and leave it until we're ready. So once we get past the front entrance and park it, we're bagless. We spend a small fraction of the money most people do to feed ourselves.
What? You park a stroller with all those items in a random area? I guess I can see a stroller sitting all day in a designated area for strollers for a certain ride like Dumbo. Wow, I guess this idea needs to go on the tips board.

I'm pretty sure it's a legal requirement to have water available, so Disney couldn't start charging for the cups of iced water. We got one often with our meals and took a bottle of water in with us that had been in the fridge or freezer all night.

Next time we might start bringing a can of soda with us too.

I always pushed mine around with me and then parked at the stroller area's when we rode a ride.

I didn't mind but it embarrasses my family so last trip we went cooler-less.

I rather push the stroller and have my stuff in it than carry a backpack, purse, or fanny pack...when I'm hot I can't stand to have anything on me.

Yep, it's fabulous and makes our life super easy. All of the parks have spots where stroller parking isn't completely full (though MK is the hardest), so we're not in anyone's "way". More often than not, it's the same area where we're going to eat, so it's doubly convenient. We've never had an issue with our stuff being touched...worst case scenario, if someone really wants to steal it, hope they enjoy. It's nothing more than a cooler bag and food, we don't leave valuables in it.

It was in the seventies, and we were jus walking around an amusement park. We weren’t running a marathon! Nothing I don’t do on a normal day without a water bottle attached to my hip. It’s simple for me - I eat when I’m hungry and drink when I’m thirsty!

With Disney raising the prices of a lot of snacks and drinks in the parks today, who all brings in their water, cokes, pepsi, ect to drink in the park? I think some people freeze the drinks and bring them in, but what would be a good product to buy in which to carry them in? Some type of insulated backpack, bag, ect? With the prices of drinks and water going through the roof, what are your tips with bringing your own drinks?

At qs meals for 2 adults, 2 kids we usually do a large lemonade that kids can share and ice water for the adults. Ts we splurge and everyone gets whatever they want. I’ll buy a flat of cheap bottled water at Publix and a case of Diet Coke and we use up that during the week. Will carry 1 or 2 in my backpack into the parks. And we do use the drinking fountains with no complaints.

We used to eat a lot of Mickey bars. I’m considering completely cutting them out. Would just bring a few snacks our kids love like fruit roll ups.

Not sure about Florida or legal requirements. But Disney Geeks know that due to a plumbers strike while Disneyland was being built, Walt had a choice between toilets and water fountains, and he picked toilets because.....quoting Walt "people can buy a Coke, but they can't pee in the street"
