Hello fellow Disney campers!

This would be our first time camping at FW, we have a travel trailer. So could we bring our frozen food from Jersey in our travel trailer to FW. Will the chicken stay frozen all that distance? This way I can buy it at my sale price here rather than not knowing what the supermarkets down there will charge.

If you plug in your trailer for a day or 2 before you leave, while you're packing, it will help to keep it colder longer. If you have extra space, freeze a few water bottles and tuck them in to act like an ice pack. I always like to pack a bag of ice to help as well, that way when we get where we're going, we have ice for the cooler. How long of a drive are you looking at? When we had the Motorhome, we kept the fridge on propane so it worked all the way, is that an option for you?

If you have a late model RV the fridge can run on propane. There some that say not to do this for saftey but we always do it.

If you don't want to run the propane while traveling, just turn it on and let it run while you're stopped for the evening. We've done this several times, and everything has stayed frozen. Just don't open the door during the day and make sure your freezer is packed full. Put frozen water bottles or ice packs in any empty space. Enjoy your trip!

Yea, I'm kind of in the same boat, I really wanted to buy my food here and have it already whenever we get to WDW, I really don't feel like grocery shopping in florida, especially with my dh. I was not going to buy a whole lot of frozen meats, but I really wanted to buy some ice cream here to have there but if it starts melting what a mess that's going to be.

I don't think I would want to chance something that would defrost and turn to liquid. Frozen meat, yes, ice cream, not sure on that.

Last summer we bought ice cream in Maryland drove to Louisiana, powered back up at the house for a day, ice cream was rock solid. The next day took off for the Smokey Mountians of Tenn got there and still had rock hard ice cream.:cool1:

We always load up the freezer gefore we leave and never had a problem I have run it on gas as we travel and been fine also if you are stoppin @ nigth @ acampground you'll be plugged in to get frige and frezzer cold again.

The "tighter" you pack the freezer the longer it will hold its' cold. If you realy want to take the ice cream, I would put it into a plastic bag or something just in case. Keep the airspace in the freezer and fridge to a min, get it as cold as you can before you leave, don't open it once it is off and use frozen water bottles in both the fridge and freezer to fill in space and to add cold for the unpowered time.

we always do the food shopping ahead of time and load up the fridge so everything is cold/frozen before we hit the road. then we switch over to propane for the drive. never had any problems at all.
