Bringing things into the park

When we went to WDW a few years ago we brought tummy pouches with snacks and stuff or even a backpack for jackets etc. But last year with the new safety concerns we found that all bags and pouches needed to be searched and we hated the delays so we didn't bring any thing other than the stroller and camera bag which didn't seem to be a problem. We unzipped the camera bag as we walked thru the "guest without bags" line and they barely glanced at the stroller despite the fact that it had a basket on the bottom with stuff in it.

Has anyone been recently and did they find there were delays for searches?
What did people manage to come in with and NOT have to go to the "guests with bags" line? Strollers? Camera Bags?

Thanks
Michele

::MickeyMo Although the lines for the searches look intimidating, they go pretty quickly. Lines form on both sides of the table and security just goes back and forth. Most people are used to it so they already have their compartments open and ready to be searched. It's really not that bad. ::MinnieMo

Last time I was there things moved fine. Sometimes there was a little delay but no big deal. As with everything Disney I find that the best advice about lines is to GO LEFT. Everyone seems to drift to the right and the left hand line is shorter.

I agree with the "go left" advise. it work well for us on Space Mountain, getting into epcot, doing the bag search, and in counter service restaurants.

I'm just curious how you thought that a camera bag was not a bag. DH has always had to have his camera bag checked thoroughly whenever we have gone thru, including having to take camera's out to make sure they were real.

I'm trying to figure out why you weren't sent over to the security line when you went thru the "no bags" line. I've seen them even checking diaper bags.
Of course I would have never assumed that a camera bag didn't count in the first place. The lines don't take that long. Even with security smelling my water bottle on this last trip because I had added a fruit mix and she wanted to make sure I wasn't sneaking liquor into EPCOT, where we just happened to be going for the food & "WINE" festival. :rotfl:

I think they have a very smooth system on the bag checking. I don't think the delays are bad anywhere. I think MGM was the worst, but still maybe 5 minutes tops.

I wondered that, too. My FIL uses a fanny pack and does not have to go through the bag line. They look in his fanny pack, but it is a quick thing. LIke a 2 second look.

So fanny packs don't count as bags? The line doesn't sound too bad, but if I can avoid it I'd like to.

They've also checked all the pockets in my fanny pack. I figure a bag is a bag is a bag and I go thru the line to be checked.

It was really crowded last weekend, and the lines for security were not bad at all. We always have a huge backpack with several compartments plus the camera bag. We just make sure to have all zippers open, and it is a very quick process.

I don't know why they didn't consider our camera bag to be a bag. I think my dh wears it everywhere we go and we didn't really think about it and so we went to that line not even realizing we had it and they didn't say anything just asked us to unzip and glanced inside..we didn't even remove the camera. We did this for our whole stay of 7 days, multiple parks per day.

I was also surprised that the stroller wasn't a problem. No bags there but the basket under it had juice and water and hats and jackets etc. They never even looked in there.

btw... the our camera bag is one of those very small ones...just barely fits the camera.. a little pouch sort of.

We weren't trying to "get away" with anything. we just sort of forgot it was even there.

I think strollers should be looked at but that didn't seem to be the case.
