Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Hi everyone! I didn't realize until now that there was a thread for this cruise. We can't wait to go! We are sailing with an 11yo son and 8yo daughter.

Hey KPGClark,

Welcome! Glad you found us. I have an 11 year old son also. His name is Jordan. Hope they will be able to meet at the club and hang out :)

Deb

My son would love that. He is pretty outgoing.

Don't forget to email WinoTracy for the newsletter. It is the highlight of my month until the cruise gets here.

There's a Dis meet after the lifeboat drill and kids will be there also. Hopefully our kids will be able to introduce each other then.

Deb

Well, they have increased the limited edition 500 port pins to le 2600 for the August repo cruise.

Thank god.. We did not sleep out but Alot of Folks did..

Welcome cinlyn, both repo cruises, what fun.

A question if you don't mind. . . do you know how much the rainforest pass was for your repo cruise.

I have to start budgeting and figuring out how many extra shifts I need to get in before Aug. :confused3

Hi! :wave2: The unlimited rainforest was $150.00 on the Westbound repo cruise.

Robin

Hi, everyone. It has been great reading about all the wonderful activities the westbound repo did. I can't wait for our eastbound repo as this is truly a once in a lifetime in my household (hope DCL keeps the creative juices flowing for the future special cruises).

I can't wait to meet you guys as you have made us feel so special.

Thank you. :cool1: :cool1:

P.S. I've heard that alot of the excursions are already fully booked. I am waiting for a friend to submit final payment before we coordinate our excursions. Just wondering if anyone out there knows which ones are already fully booked?

Thanks again...... :wave2: :)

Hard to say how many are fully booked -- since DCL has no clue either. The only was to get the Chileneo (sic) Bay snorkel was to insist to talk to a Supr.-- in the back room. Then they were able to book it for us.

Talk to the back room -- then you will find out for sure :)

I hate to ask but what is the Rainforest? I have never done any Spa treatments on any cruise ship. We do have the REAS booked and will look forward to the couples massage. I would like some other ideas. I figure 2 weeks and 4 stops I will have a lot of leasure time on my hands and DD will be well supervised! ;)

Kathy,
Glad you found the new thread. Nice to see you again!

All the newly found DIS Repo. Cruisers WELCOME ABOARD! :boat:

The Rainforest Room is actually a series of rooms with some being steam rooms and some being warm sitting rooms. The chairs are hard and made of tile. Some are lounge chairs and some bench seating with backs. If you are familiar with Barb's site there are pix there. We are not supposed to post links to that site I don't think. A lot of people love the steam rooms but I find they are quite hot.

Robin, Thanks for the information, hmmm need to schedule another overtime shift to fit that in the budget :earboy2:

rsschneck I am a big fan of the rainforest room. You enter into a large area with a fountain and four heated stone lounge chairs, it sounds uncomfortable but they are really quite nice. Off of the main room are two different showers one feels like a mist shower and was pepperminted scented the other was more like a rain shower and was tropically scented. There are two steam rooms with different scents, I agree they can get quite hot at times, but I only spend about 10 minutes in there. There is a sauna as well that doesn't get as warm and is perfect for taking a book into.

One all our other cruisers the "mommy hour" consisted of either an exercise class and or some time in the exercise room, rainforest time, then a shower in the lockers (the locker showers are one of the great free surprises on board) What a treat to have that time all to myself.

If you are having trouble with booking excursions, talk to your TA, as stated previously, Tammy was very helpfull in getting us what we wanted.

Other than castaway, I have booked one excursion through DCL and two with others.

You won't be on the deck long! I am throwing you overboard.

I can't stand it, I'm getting so excited read about all the great activities aboard for the Repo cruise. I can hardly wait for our turn :Pinkbounc :bounce: .

The Rainforest is a must do on my list of activities, but I can't decided if I should sign up for both weeks or just pay as I go. On last years cruise I signed up for the week and didn't use it that much, no time. But it was only a week cruise, I'll have 2 whole weeks to use it this year :rotfl2:

Excursions: While in Acapulco we want to see the Cliff Divers show I was think of signing us up to do it with DCL the El Mercado & Cliff Divers Experience but I read that the buffet food was not good and DCL gave a 25% rebate to those who did.
Are there any "Fools" (LOL) here planning their own excursion to see the Cliff Divers show, if so would you mind a few tag alongs?

Got to go read some more.
thanks all

Ginger,

we are doing our own excusions regarding the Cliff diving...going at night with bunch of others.

Look for my PM...

Mel

Thanks Melinda, will you be going for the dinner also or just the show?

BTW, I can't get off from work to attend the Big DIS Meet, I'm totally bummed.

I saw in the navigators from the Westbound that they were offering 7 day Rainforest passes for $75. If this is any of the seven days -- I'm there! I figure we have 4 days in port, plus Panama Canal, plus the first/last "day" that means I won't be able to use it on one sea day, which is quite alright by me :cheer2: If it's 7 days in a row though, I'll have to think about it some more.

Tracy

Hello everybody. Is this the place that has taken over our old Disboard meeting place? I've missed you all so much. I hope you are all well and all our old gang is here. Been following the May Westbounders and loved every post. Can't wait to be there.

Tracy, great newsletter as always and thanks for getting messages and photos to us from Hygiene99.

I'll try to read the whole thread and catch up.

Love to all of you.
Pam
