Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

I have been shopping EVERYWHERE to find a pair of black dress shoes that don't KILL my feet. Do any of you ladies actually LIKE wearing heals? Would a pair of black birkenstock's be acceptable? ;) HELP!!!!!! :confused3

Oh, and still no DOCS!

Since I am shorter than most, I am one of the crazy ones that doesn't mind heels. My favorite and the most comfortable are Franco Sarto shoes that you can find at Nordstrom or Macy's. You sound like me with returning. I will buy a couple of pairs wear them around the house on the carpet for long periods of time and see how bad my feet hurt when I'm done and back they go depending on my pain level :rotfl:

The most comfortable heels I ever bought were 9 West strappy sandals that I got at Famous Footwear on clearance for $9.99, they have about a 3 inch heel and are silver but even without hose are quite comfortable. I might have to bring those now that I think about it!

Deb & Lauren:

My mother was excited to hear there were Canasta players and asked if we would be meeting you so she can play. She also was excited about playing Pinochle again so it looks like it's GAME ON for us!

Michelle

Michelle,

Very cool! Tell her we are looking forward to it! Told DH about the "gaming" posts today and he is very excited also!

Nancy,

I think years ago I saw Scrabble. I don't know if they have it now. DH would love to join your Aunt and Grandma to play. If they want a third, give us a ring :)

Deb

Deb, make that a 4th for Scrabble! I love it and Allan won't play and Joy doesn't have the patience. Will we play to US or UK spellings?!?!?!

I love wearing heels, they make my fat ankles look slimmer. However, they do hurt my feet. The best shoes I have are black dance shoes. They are plain black, but you can decorate them with sparkly things, and they have just a 2 inch heel. I could dance all night in them, but they are only suitable for indoor wear. Try a local dance stockist, SupaDance are a good brand, but they are expensive.

Does anyone know about air regulations and knitting needles? I probably can't bring it on my carry on, but can I pack them in my suitcase and be okay? I can always post on the main board also.

Deb

Deb, you will not be able to pack knitting needles or even sewing needles into your carry on baggage. If they are found they will be confiscated. However, no reason you can't pack them in your suitcase.

I am planning a trip to find a hobby shop somewhere before I board the Magic, whist around Anaheim. I want to take a cross stitch project with me, and my current one is just too big to take. Does anyone know of a HobbyCraft (do you guys have this store?) or a Ben Franklin Crafts or any such in the Anaheim region. We are planning a trip to the Block at Orange County (I think this is the correct title) shopping centre so maybe there is one there??? Does anyone know?

Has anyone booked transfers with Disney from the resort to the pier?

If so do you documents have vouchers indicating pick up times and transfer info?? My documents seem abit confusing with minimal info.

Any help on clarifying this for me??

Thanks

Hi, yes, we have booked Disney transfers to the Magic. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. However, can't help with any further information as WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR DOCUMENTS YET! Can you tell that I am a little frustrated? I am pretty sure that when you check in to your hotel you will be given further instructions, such as what time to leave your bags outside your door, etc. A couple of years ago we stayed at the Hyatt at Orlando airport following our flight from UK, boarding the Wonder the next day. When we checked in the hotel gave us lots of information and the following morning Disney CMs held a huge meeting and put us into coach numbers, boarding areas, etc. It was incredibly well organised, worked like clockwork and we all reached the ship very early, well before most people. Let's hope it works the same this time!!

Which hotel are you staying in? Looking forward to meeting you, very soon!

Just a quick FYI, knitting needles are allowed in your carry on. You can check the latest list of items here :flower:

Pam - when you go to the cross stitch stores have you ever seen a cross stitch pattern for the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty?I love those fairies and thought it would be fun to do them on cross stitch on the cruise. I've searched the Internet but no luck at all finding a pattern.
Hey - I just noticed these dog smilies! :paw: :dog2: :pug: :dog:

Cool! Unfortunately I am like Allan, but DH loves Scrabble. Sounds like a round of Scrabble is on for the cruise also!

Michael's Craft stores have a LARGE cross stitch book of Disney. I think it is mostly of the fab five though. They have a smaller book of Disney Princesses and there could be the three fairies in with the Princesses.

Diane, I'll keep my eyes open for you. Can't promise anything, but if I see such a pattern, I'll let you know.

Regina, following our recent bomb attempts, all carriers from the UK to anywhere are again banning these items. I have this on good authority from my dear friend who is a Special Branch policeman working in terrorist intelligence at Manchester Airport. Don't know how long this will last, but currently this is in force. Thanks for your info anyway. US must not be on such high alert as us at the moment - that makes a change!!!

Deb, looking forward to a nice, quiet, refined game! I'll have to get the dictionary out for some bedtime reading to swot up on some obscure words!!!

Great! I'll check Michael's out this weekend (I was going to go there anyway to try to find chocolate molds - DS wants to be the next Willie Wonka and has been happily making a mess of my kitchen the last few days!)
Pam - I thought maybe you had seen them in the past - please don't worry about looking for them on your vacation! I have a small Cinderella pattern to work on as a back up.

I was just reading through my airline stuff and noticed Air Canada has a 70 lb limit not 50 lb like I thought. Woo hoo!! I can go crazy with the packing now! :cool1: LOL

Deb and Lauren,
We play Hand and Foot (Canasta) also...DH will love this, I get too antsy to play games but he adores playing any type of card or board game.

We have booked Disney transfers from the DL Hotel to the port. Our docs listed this transfer on our itinerary page simply as "Transportation to Port" on 8/20/05, but no further details were provided. I do remember seeing a post elsewhere from a West Coast cruiser who said the port bus picked up DL Hotel guests at noon on departure day. The GC and PP pickups were scheduled shortly before/after that time slot, although I don't remember the exact order. I am assuming that more information will be provided upon check-in, although we booked our room through DVC, not as part of a package. So we may have to proactive in getting the info upon arrival!

Another gamer great! So we have games of Hand and Foot, Scrabble, Pinochle, and Rummicube.

Sounds like a great time!

Our docs finally arrived, just now USPS priority mail from Costco :jumping1:

I can finally stop obsessing that I will be the only one without them!
