Open Invitation!

Anybody who would like to join us at Whispering Canyon, Friday, September 1, 2006 please let me know so that I may add you to our ressie!

It should be a fun night!

PS I also have a DCL Fund Glass!LOL My DCL Souvie Glass! We don't get that much in the way of American Change but when I do.........It's considered Mickey Mouse Fund! :lmao: :lmao:

I love it, we do the same. It is so bad that I will not spend any change and god help my DH if he even tries to spend any change in his pocket. A few years ago my Dsis and I did the same thing and it paid for our trip to Germany and Italy. :thumbsup2

I wish I was joing you guys in WDW. I was afraid it would be to hot then. I miss WDW in a bad way and want to desperately go back. I am gonna take my DGD for a day after we get off the November cruise this year. I guess a day is better than nothing at all. :teeth:

I'd love to join you, but I'm all booked to arrive at the World on Sept. 23rd. I will look forward to reading your trip reports though!

A bit off-topic, but I'm actually working on a last-minute trip to Disneyland at the moment. I'm trying to see if I can go in a month. I've never been & really want to go before I have kids & the next couple of years are very booked up! I'm thinking about staying at the Candy Cane Inn. Anybody stay there before? Any quick tips / advice for a person who's new to CA? I'm wondering what the best way to get from the airport to the resorts is.....without renting a car. So many questions. PM me if you have any advice.

THANKS!
Erica J

We used Karmel Shuttle last time from the airport to the hotel. Flew into Long Beach and stayed at the HoJo's there - for the PC Cruise.

Service was prompt and driver was friendly.

I know a bunch of people who have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn, and haven't heard anything bad about it. It's close enough to walk, but has a free shuttle if you don't feel like walking. Both LAX and SNA have shuttles that will take you to disneyland. If all you are going to do is stay go to DL you don't really need a car, but if you want to explore a car would be nice.

If you're looking to go in June, be aware of Grad nights. The only real problem with it is that DL can't extend their hours to midnight till mid june. I haven't looked up the dates this year, but I know that they are at least on Thurdsay nights (cause those are the dates Howard is looking at to work the event). Also be aware that they generally don't go to weekly schedule for entertainment (fantasmic, electric parade, fireworks) til mid to end of june. Again I haven't looked up the exact dates, but just something to think about. Fantasmic and fireworks are on the weekends though.

If you have any specific DL questions let me know. And don't forget to stop into World of Disney and say Hi to Howard. He's getting good at people walking up to him saying, Hi, I'm so and so from the Dis. Unfortunately he never remembers the name, so he comes home and tells me I met another one, and then we play 20 questions trying to figure out who it was.

Thanks dletz & Disney Elf!

You've given me some interesting points to think about. I'll have to look into getting some info on the grad night schedule. I can only go this one week in June, from the 13th - 17th....so it is what it is I guess! Hopefully, I'll find my way around the area & have a great time.

dletz, I read some of your posts on the Disneyland forum & will continue to do so until I leave. I will plan on finding your DH, Howard. I can't wait to shop World of Disney!

Ok, back to cruise talk, sorry everyone! I wonder how full "our ship" is for next August......I wish there was a way to find out!

I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn last summer and it was very nice; I would stay there again. Their shuttle runs regularly up to closing, but it is only about a 6-10 minute walk from the hotel to the gates. You'll be glad for the shuttle after you've put about 12 miles on your feet :rotfl:

Google Disneyland Express; they are busses that run from SNA and LAX to and from DL. They are pretty reasonably priced, and they usually have a coupon on the website.

I know for certain that June 13 is a grad night at DL; my nephew is graduating from high school and will be celebrating with Mickey that night. If I can get a cheap airfare, I will be there also, heads up Donna! It would be fun to meet up with both of you!

Palnning our third DL trip for this year.

November stayed @ DLH on DVC points
January stayed @ GCH on DVC points
used the DL Express both times. Once from SNA airport and the other from LAX airport. Very easy and coupon always printable online.

Planning July trip now and will be staying @ the Candy Cane Inn. Prices are GREAT. Reviews are GREAT! I don't see any downsides to this hotel. We will use the DL Express for this trip as well.

Happy Planning!

I'm a local but decided in January to stay at the Candy Cane Inn just for fun and to feel like we were away on vacation and not just day tripping to DLR. We had a standard room and loved it. The price is right, the shuttle is great the pool and breakfast are good and the beds were very comfortable. We only stayed one night but had a great experience and I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

Erica ~ I have had friends that have stayed at the Candy Cane and love it! I've only seen it from the outside but it looks clean!

When were down last Christmas, we took the Super Shuttle! Cheap and the only downfall, the driver will wait until he is full before he leaves the Airport! Other than that painless.

Hey all -

I just booked myself 5 nights at the Candy Cane Inn! Thanks to all of you for your great tips. My Sis and I are going to do a 4-day pass and plan on shopping the DD area too. DeverVal, let us know if you book and where you'll be staying. We could always meet up for a meal or drink! One last question, do grad nights directly effect the park hours for that day? I'm reading that the grad night party doesn't start until midnight....so I'm hoping that the parks will stay open for their normal hours. Oh, and Donna, is Fantasmic going to be running on weeknights after June 12th? Or will it only show on weekends at that point? I know, I said I was done asking questions! Oh well!

Thanks!
Erica J.

The website for Disneyland express is www.airportbus.com They are run by Greyhound. The prices are 19 from LAX and 14 from SNA one way, 28 and 24 roundtrip. There is a 3 off coupon on their website.

By the week you are there DL will have extended there hours to summer schedule, which means nightly fireworks and Fantasmic. However on Grad night nights they close early (9pm) and while they will still have fireworks at 8:45 no Fantasmic.

The disneyland website does have all the hours and entertainment times up.

A lot of area schools get out the week you are planning to be here. My daughter gets out the week before, but a lot of schools I know of have their last days sometime the week of June 12-16.

Val will you be here long enough to squeeze in a couple of hours at DL. BTW, grad nights are on Wed and Thurday nights, so June 14 and 15th. DL is open until midnight on the 13th.

THANK YOU!

This info is just so helpful for me! I will plan accordingly for Fantasmic. It looks like it has some fun charactors that WDW Fantasmic doesn't have. I'm very excited to visit DL! I wanted to go last August when we were in LA for the kick-off of the SOF cruise through Panama. I priced everything...did my sales pitch. The "When will we get to CA again?" speech....and no takers. My family simply couldn't take more than 10 days off of work. So, I feel that my patience has paid off.

It's a nasty, chilly day her in MN. Sounds like parts of Northern WI are going to get snow for Mother's Day. Yuck! I contintue to daydream about crusing with Mickey and the gang. Hopefully, this little trip to CA will distract me long enough to cross another month off of my Repo cruise countdown!

I think I'll stand and look at the ocean from 4th deck for awhile.......
