We haven't been to DL in 10 years and we have never been with children, so I need some help on the cooler issue. When visiting WDW with our kids, we bring in a small soft side bag cooler (think diaper bag sized insulated bag) that we fill with juice boxes, bottled water, a ziplock of ice, baby food squeezers, and small bagged snacks. WDW has no restrictions on what food/drink you can bring in the park and all this passed security with no problem. I'm reading that DL may not be the same way. What can I expect? If it's going to be a problem I'd rather know in advance and just leave it at the hotel.

It's exactly the same way! No worries as long as it's soft sided and no glass containers.

I've never brought in a cooler, but I've brought in plenty of food and drinks in a backpack. Actually, I just remembered that last time, I did bring a lunch sized insulated bag with ice and some cold items. They ask that you use the picnic tables outside of the park when you eat, but I've never done that. I usually eat while in line for something or eat some of our brought in food with whatever we are buying inside. I think they just don't want all the outdoor eating tables used up by people bringing their own food because then the people buying food won't have anywhere to sit.

You should be fine with the items you've listed and described. I've brought in bottles (plastic) of water, juice boxes, ziploc baggies of snacks, and baby food and they were fine. As mentioned, you cannot bring in glass containers (except for baby food jars) or knives (or potentially anything with a sharp/cutting edge).

I believe both WDW and DLR have policies saying no outside food and drink. Neither place enforces these rules. They allow you to bring in food. I've seen people bring in fast food bags and pizzas before. No glass as mentioned.

Now if you're trying to go to Six Flags or another CA theme park, you may have problems.

As long as its rather small and you don't over do it, it seems to be fine. We always bring a small soft sided lunch cooler ( a little bigger than a 6 pack soda size) and never have a problem. We fill it with things like go gurts, juice boxes, uncrustables, water, string cheese, baby squeezies etc. If you freeze the water and juice boxes, you dont need to pack much ice or ice packs. :)

What's interesting is after our last trip in November, I received a survey asking a lot of questions about bringing in outside food. Hope they dont get more strict about this. Its nice to be able to bring in a few things to help supplement throughout the day.

We've brought food in for years. As mentioned no glass etc, but everything else is ok! Dd and dh are gluten free so we bring a LOT of food in, :).
