When going into Epcot, if I am drinking something out of a styrofoam cup with a lid...will they make me throw it out as I enter the gates?

And I am allowed to bring a bottle of water in with me...yes?

I should know the answer to this...but I don't! DH and I were wondering if we mixed up a cocktail in our room at BWV and walked over to Epcot if we would have to be finished with the drink before we could go inside.

You shouldn't have any problem with the cup.

You won't have a problem bringing in liquids. As far as the mixed drink, they probably won't check, but I do think it's against the rules to bring in alcohol.

We bring in drinks, usually bottled water and gatorade in a soft cooler and it's never a problem. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys!

See, I wouldn't think to bring alcohol into MK, because they don't serve alcohol there. But since they sell alcohol at Epcot...I just figured it is like bringing in your own water/juice/gatorade to save money. Maybe I am wrong with that logic, but that's what I was thinking. I mean, TECHNICALLY I don't think you are supposed to bring in any food or beverages.

Thanks again...only18 more days!

Unfortunately, you are not permitted to carry open alcoholic drinks between the epcot resorts area and Epcot. This is due to legal liabilities issues. If a guest is encountered trying to do this they will be asked to finish their drink before entering into another licensed/incorporated area.

My wife and I carried bottles of water in the outside mesh pockets of our backpacks going into all the parks and noone said anything. I was even drinking from one at times when going through the gates.

One security guard joked that all they are looking for is WMDs (Weapons of Mouse Destruction)

In all the years I have been going to Disney parks,I have never seen any signs at the park entrances that said food and drink couldn't be brought into the parks.

You cannot take alcoholic beverages from a inside a park to outside the park. I would image it would be true going the opposite way. We were told there are different liquor licenses inside the parks than outside the parks.

You can take non alcoholic beverages into a park with no problems.

Fact: I've brought styrofoam cups with a lid into the parks without any problem.

Speculation: If the guards suspect you are brinking an alcoholic drink into the park (either because the drink smells of alcohol or because you are acting drunk) they will ask to check the cup and not allow it into the park.

Why not put it in a water bottle or a refillable mug? We bring beer and wine down to the pools in our mugs.

When we stayed at the Swan last summer, we had great fun mixing drinks in the room, putting them into covered coffee cups, then drinking them on that slow boat ride to Epcot.

Dh was not allowed to take his beer from Epcot back to BWV:( but we have never had them check what we are bringing into Epcot.
I like the idea a drinking on the boat over to Epcot ;)

Thanks again. I knew not everyone would give me the "thumbs up" :thumbsup2 on this idea.

DVCconvert-That does make sense.

Hi RobinB! Yeah, we could do that (that's why I asked about the water bottle, LOL...did you really think I wanted to bring WATER with me? :smooth: ) I just don't want to have to mix up a drink at the park. I wanted a ketel one and club soda with lime! Haha, can't you see me whipping a lime out of my backpack and slicing it up on a bench just inside the gate at Epcot? :rotfl2:

And just so everyone knows...I am not planning on getting "looped" at Epcot. I just like a cocktail (or two) before dinner and thought we could walk around and sip ours before showing up for our ADR.

Kay-I also like the idea of a nice adult beverage on that boat! Thanks!

This kind of answers BOTH of our questions! I got this from Mousesavers.com...

Bringing in Outside Food and Drink

Officially, Disney asks that no outside food or drink be brought into the theme parks. Unofficially, this is not stringently enforced. Bags are searched, but a few items in a small soft-sided cooler (such as sandwiches, crackers, granola bars, juice boxes or bottles of water) will be ignored.

If you eat your snack/meal very discreetly, without using park resources (i.e. taking up a table at a restaurant without buying anything) and you don't make a mess, no one will say anything to you.

One note of caution: avoid bringing in anything highly perishable, such as cold cuts. It would be easy to end up with food poisoning!

Also, you absolutely will NOT be allowed to bring in the following: hard-sided coolers, large coolers, glass containers, or alcoholic beverages
