Bringing backpacks on rides

It's interesting that Disney does allow bags on it's coasters. If you're on Space Mountain with a backpack and you're holding it, and you let go during the ride, there is a chance it will fall onto a piece of track underneath you, thus causing a train to smash into it, causing many problems.

Of course this is the company that doesn't check lapbars either.

But yeah, at Universal, Dragons, Hulk, Mummy and Men in Black require lockers. All the other attractions you may take on with you, or there are storage bins.

EDIT: Also, the lockers are done through fingerprints. Just follow the directions on the screen at the lockers. They are very clear. It surprises me how many people have locker problems.

Ok (the bold part) does this bother anyone but me. I know off topic.

No, it really bothers me, too. It's an unsafe precedent. It's not a matter of if, but when someone is injured or killed. My husband works in the steel industry, so safety protocols NOT being followed really freak us both out. We've seen and known too many people lose limbs and lives just because they didn't follow protocol. It was still safe 99% fo the time, but it's the one time out of a hundred that will kill you.

dangerously OT:rolleyes1 my DH is a steelworker, just transferred to work the furnace...even when they follow every protocol to a "T", things happen. coworker killed last year when the the melt burped & he got burnt when checking the temp:sad2: .

my point, unless you wrap yourself in bubblewrap; random stuff can happen anywhere; just different odds depending on the scenario. i imagine you could get hurt from somebody's eyeglasses or false teeth flying out of a car too.

for the TMs (& CMs too) - thought many of of the rides (ie jimmy neutron) had sensors that "know" when the lapbars aren't properly secured.popcorn::

Keishashadow-Where can I get a bag like the one you posted a picture of? That's cute. thanks

Right, the vehicles do have sensors telling the operator that the lapbars are locked, but still, the sensor could be misreading. I know at Everest and Space Mountain, where there are handles to actually pull up on the bars, the Cast just does a visual check.

Wow very off topic. Sorry guys!

Just got back two days ago from a 7 day vacation.
Fact:
Fannypacks, those with a clip fixing on the belt (so not the hand knotted or wrap type) are allowed on all rides.
I repeat, if it has a clip buckle...its fine.
Any other type of bag is a no go on the headliners.
Hope that helps.

PS. I was so frustrated seeing Simpsons almost finished..was there when Krusty eyes started working...spoke to a construction guy who said they have done some ride tests & they are very close to opening, BUT there are lots of safety tests to do...so no firm date has been set.

I know...I was over there for a while Sunday morning and saw how close it was to being finished, I wanted to scale the wall and check it out for myself.

We found that they would not let fannypacks on Mummy, but would on MIB.

They usually let the fanny packs on, but I have seen them turn them away. I had a camera bag once looped onto my belt... it was a very small one, slim fit to my digital camera, so about 1/8 the size of any fanny pack. I was already strapped in and they made me take my belt off and give it to my friend, where it bulged out of his pockets. It really bothers me I had to basically strip down when my fanny pack esque bag was so much smaller than some of the monster packs I have seen on people.... :confused3
