So my family and I are for going on a Disney cruise this summer. I have several questions
1. Can we bring alcohol from Canada to the States? if so, how much?
2. Can we bring Alcohol on the Plane? i.e. Airtran, checked luggage? if so, how much?
(I ask because I want to bring a specific type of alcohol)
Cant wait to go
Thanks

1) Yes. I'm not sure the limits but you can bring alcohol to be consumed in the states. We've done it before (Specific liquor we have in Canada my US friends like)
2) Checked luggage. As much as you want. Just wrap it up really well, and expect your bag will most likely be inspected, especially if you have more then a few bottles in there.

As for taking it in packed luggage...
I retell the story told to me by a WestJet flight attendant about a bride flying from Ottawa to Vancouver for her wedding. She had her wedding dress packed in checked luggage. Her uncle was also on the same flight and packed a few bottles of a special red wine in his checked bags.

The bottles broke open mid-flight and dumped red wine all over the luggage of a bunch of the passengers including the wedding dress.

So if you feel you must pack it in checked luggage (keeping in mind that it's really heavy and you have limited baggage weight allowance), make sure it's at least triple bagged and wrapped up very tight.

If you're a Canadian citizen 21 years of age or older entering the United States, you may bring up to one litre of alcohol with you into the United States for your own personal consumption.

Or one 24 of beer per person.

I wouldn't bother. You can buy alcohol in the grocery stores and pay a lot less than we do.

If your goal is to bring the booze on the cruise...forget it. They do not allow it. They will remove it from your bags before the bags are brought onboard.

Ya last year my DH brought some on without any hassle, security smiled and said "Have a great trip"

I think the key to this one is they will remove it from you bags which are delivery by staff to rooms. I've read on the cruise board that any bottles must be carried on in your carry-on which has restrictions on size. Best bet is to head over to cruise board and ask what other's do with their booze:thumbsup2

So sounds like DCL allows you to BYO booze onboard. Good to know.

Other lines don't allow it....they expect you to buy from them.

Bonjoe07--if you are flying non-stop from a Canadian airport to an American airport that is your final flying destination (for ex. YUL to MCO) you can purchase duty free liquor at YUL and pick it up before boarding your flight to MCO. A throwback to the old days!
