?? bringing alcohol on board

my husband said he thought there was a duty free store at MCO. does anyone else remember seeing one? and could we take that with us?

thanks for all the great feedback!!:yay:

Just there in January there is no store to purchase alcoholic beverages for take away. Just drinks in the eateries.

You never know they might. ;)

I had a large bottle of gin, 6 pack of tonic water, 6 pack of creme soda, plus bottles of water in mine plus lots of snack goodies.

Shirley will be making me a Malibiu and snacks Birthday Basket for me in May. I can't bring it with me on the plane and will be on the DCL bus. And because they do custom stuff, no chocolate! I can't wait to see it, just the perfect gift!

We were thinking the same thing.:drinking1 I did a bunch of research and this is what we're doing.:surfweb: We fly in and we're staying at WDW for two nights prior to boarding so... Air Tran Airways, our carrier says it's ok to pack in your checked luggage up to "5 liters of 24%-70% alcohol by volume or 48-140 proof”. I’m going to purchase whatever I can (preferably in a plastic bottle) and double bag it in a zip lock baggie and then wrap that in a tee shirt so I don’t end up smelling like a bar. I’m not going to pack the full 5 liters mind you…maybe a 5th of Jack Daniels or Captain Morgan. That should hold the two of us for the length of our 5 night cruise plus. I just hope they bottle it that way, I know Southern Comfort does but I don’t really care for that. When we get to our villa at WDW we’ll just take it out of our checked luggage and put it in our carry on. Then we’ll be good to go when we go through security at the port.pirate:princess:

You can also buy beer and wine at the Hesse station by either DTD or the MK. Might be a good alternative if you are limited to Disney transportation.

There is a CVS within walking distance of the dock at Key West that sells wine and beer. No issues bringing that back onboard!
There are a couple of liquor stores within walking distance.
However, if you want just beer or wine, the CVS would be cheaper.

I've been trying to decide on a plan to do this...I didn't know weren't supposed to ship it..that was what I was kind of thinking...I've taken water and cokes in our luggage for WDW before so might just have to add soda this time..but thinking about doing gardengrocer too....

Anyone know how much you have to buy before you can get alcohol?

Kind of on the same token...we are staying one night at ASMovies the night before the cruise and then staying a few days at Pop Century after the cruise. I wondered if we could ride over to Pop on the day we arrive and leave a box or suitcase for the 5 days we'll be gone on the cruise?

I see there is a Walmart here
2700 Clearlake Road, Cocoa, FL, United States‎ - (321) 639-1610‎
just before the Bennett causeway.
Anybody think this maybe an option?

I don't imagine Shirley can do a gift basket with a case of beer :rotfl:

She just might!! I just got off the phone with Melody at the Perfect Gift and ordered baskets for our cruise. 3 children baskets, with soda, chips, etc and 1 Adult basket with Diet Pepsi (not a coke fan!!) and Budweiser for DH!!! Give her or Shirley a call!!!

Interesting...If Shirely goes to Port Canaveral for DCL, does anyone know if she can go on the Carnival Dream in Port Canaveral.
I think I would do the coke and beer special LOL

I think she only delivers to DCL. Most other cruise lines have a lot of rules about what can be brough aboard by passengers. He website says she delivers to DCL and doesn't mention RCCL or Carnival.

I took this directly from her website:

Gift Baskets delivered to all Port Canaveral Cruise Lines!

Not sure of the link. It's the perfect gift. I used a link on a different thread. or go to the DIS home page and the DCL, there is an ad on there.

Oooh, awesome, I bet I misread it! That is really good to know! Thanks.

Since you are allowed to pack wine, alcohol, etc in checked bags (up to a certain limit), why not just check a carry-on sized bag filled with your goodies and pick it up in MCO when you arrive. Of course you will NOT put on the DCL tag to have it transferred with the rest of your luggage. Voila, you have your wine, etc in your carry-on for the cruise. Beer will be a problem, but wine and liquor should be fine. Am i missing something? :confused3
