Does anybody know if there are any rules against bringing your own tripod on board? I'm thinking about getting the photo cd but the pricing hasn't been released yet and I'm not sure how they'll handle our situation since we have two rooms. I've read many posts where some people say that the cd covered multiple rooms and other posts where they said that the cd didn't cover multiple rooms. In case the photo cd doesn't work out for us, I"m thinking I might want to bring my tripod just in case.

I'm pretty sure you will not be allowed to set up a tripod for the character meet and greets.

My tripod is coming, but I suspect opportunities to use it on the ship will be few.

I don't see any reason WY you can not bring a tripod on board I always use one just be sure to have someone man it I have a Trek Go Pro which is in three small pieces and can be used as a walking stick takes up little room in luggage also has a carrying bag (expensive but well worth it) for family pictures I set it up and the timer on my camera or use the wireless remote

I wouldn't be using it for meet and greets. Just family photos at various locations where I want a family photo.

You could run into issues with that as well. Depending on when and where you are wanting to take the photo; crowds, ship motion or other things could impact your ability to get the shot.

As for the CD, as long as it is Parent 1 + Kid(s) in Room 1 and Parent 2 + kid(s) in Room 2, you should get any pictures involved.

I brought a tripod on our last cruise. I mainly used it up on Deck 10 for night shots. I did not use it on the ship for character greetings. No reason why you couldn't use it to set up your own family pictures without characters though.

I think there will be plenty of opportunities to take some nice family photos using a tripod.

Make sure to try out the self timer and/or remote shutter release in advance.

I just took mine on the Magic and had NO trouble at all in fact a lot of people stopped and asked if they could see my photos :) I'm not a professional photographer by any means I just take photos as a hobby so it was nice that people actually went out of their way to ask me about something I enjoy :thumbsup2 made me feel good especially if they complimented them!

I honestly think it was a lot easier to bring a Tripod here than it is in the parks

Please do be aware of other passengers if you set up your family photo in the atrium at a busy time. On our first cruise I wanted a picture with the Ariel outside Triton's on the Wonder. During the 45 minutes between the show and dinner one gentleman with a tripod took pictures with the statue and his wife the ENTIRE time... He would not move or allow my husband to take a picture of me with the statue from the front side if the statue even as he adjusted his shutter and flash, over and over. So please take your family photos but make sure to allow others to do the same!

I'm def not that kind of person and I'm not a professional photographer but putting a camera in someone else's hands to capture the picture you want is a hit and miss. I don't really like bothering people to take a picture for us as I'm concerned with them dropping my camera or taking a bad picture or just plain bothering them. I'd rather use a tripod and get the picture that I want. I think I will just bring the tripod and my gorilla pod.

As far as room set up, we do have myself, my dad, and my boys in room 1 and my wife, my mom, my mother-in-law, and my daughter in room 2 so from what I've read, we should be good with pictures for the photo cd but I've also read that this hasn't worked for some people. I may just wait until we're almost done cruising and check out the photos to see if they do include them all before deciding to purchase or not.

That dude should learn how to "bracket" his shots. Obviously didn't know how to work his camera OR how to be polite :-(

Cast members should have stepped in to prevent this.

What we like to is if we see guest taking pictures of one another we would ask if we can take a picture of them with there camera and then ask if they will return the favor
Great ice braker and sometimes make new friends
