Bring your own cake?

Hi. We are going next month to celebrate my kids birthday. Is it possible to bring our own cake or cupcakes to the restaurant?

Respectfully I would suggest having your own dessert as an in room birthday celebration. Enjoy your trip!

Why? Just curious. There are 15 of us eating at Chef Mickey’s and I’m just not sure about ordering a cake. My daughter loves chocolate and my son won’t eat it. I thought doing this would work. Is it not allowed?

Chef Mickey has an entire section of dessert. Have you considered bringing a candle, stick it in a dessert and singing happy birthday?

There was a big brouhaha a while back over a cake being brought into CM. Without rehashing the entire mess, the guest wanted the cake to be kept and brought out. Not allowed. Was not pretty

Anyhoo, getting back to the point here, the logistics of this is not easy. You have to transport it there, then carry it to the restaurant. Once there, you have to keep that your table, they will not take it in the back, nor will they serve it. So either you have to bring your own serving utensils and plates, or go to the dessert buffet and bring back 15 plates

So again, they may or may not allow it, but practically it is not a great choice, imho

Especially when there is an entire dessert section that people are going to want to enjoy.

1) I have seen it done.
2) But, you MUST keep it at the table with you.
. . . you can keep it on your chair with you or on the table
. . . if kept on the floor, you risk having someone trip over it or step into it
3) Health Code does not allow them to keep it in the kitchen and bring it out when you desire.
4) There is no way to determine if you are bringing in something that can be hazardous.

I think this may be one of those situations where "just because you can doesn't mean you should." Logistically, it can be difficult. You'll have an easier time if you're staying at CR or arriving via private vehicle, it wouldn't be too bad. But I wouldn't risk bringing a cake on Disney transportation. And also, where are you going to put the cake while you eat?

CM has a large selection of desserts. Or, as was previously mentioned, you could have the cake and celebration in your room.

I’d just buy the small Disney cake (an adorable Mickey hat shape) that is $35. It only serves 4-6 but with all the dessert options, it would be more symbolic. They have chocolate and vanilla so you could buy one of each if you wanted.

I did this for DS at HDDR! No hassle and no worries doing it this way

mmmm i dont want to be disrespectful but as long as you want to bring your own cake in why dont you just bring your own main course, and your drinks. I wonder what they would charge you for the rental of their table. I am sorry if you are going to a restaurant then you eat their food and the idea of bringing your own food is, in my opinion, not appropriate.

Bringing your own cake is very common outside the Disney bubble. But it is not within the bubble

Fair enough to ask the question w a custom wdw cake for 15 would cost a couple hundred dollars

No need to be mean

There have been people who have brought their own cake - mostly those though that had allergies that the bakery that services the restaurant can't adequately handle. I would write it on my reservation and call the dining hotline to double check.

1) OK, I know the OP wants their own cake.
2) But, the podium "Mickey Cake" is pretty darn good.
3) I ordered this for our group, with multiple HUGE-BIG-SIGNIFICANT-MAJOR celebrations.
. . . (1) person just retired
. . . (1) person at 70th birthday
. . . (1) person at 5-yrs breast cancer survivor
. . . (1) person at survival of a mega-auto-crash
4) Everyone LOVED it !!!
5) It is ordered when you check-in at the podium (not beforehand) and brought to you when you request it.
6) Forget about your own cake, and get the Mickey Podium Cake.

NOTE: And, yes, one of the people at the table cut into it before the photo was taken.

They have limited availability at the podium and advise you order them ahead of time. I’m trying to decide what meal to add one too!

I think the podium Mickey cake is a great idea...especially at a restaurant where everyone will have access to a dessert buffet. If you want a different cake option, the "Disney World Cake Hotline" will have a personalized cake waiting at your ADR (not sure if every WDW restaurant included).

Another cup of coffee later....

We were at Chef Mickey's for My Niece's birthday a few year ago. I didn't Want to order a whole cake because of the dessert bar. The cake hotline had a few individual treats to choose from too. I ordered her a glass slipper. (When I shared this on a previous thread,I remembered incorrectly getting the glass slipper for CRT)

Does it just serve 4 to 6 as stated? Our could you squeeze 8 out of one?

If you look at the silver cut out and almost replaced, it looks like you could possibly get as many as 16 servings.
