If the DVC powers that be do read the Dis Boards, I want to show them the amount of money they are leaving on the table by not offering ad ons of less than 100 points at BLT and VGC.

The economy could easily be the excuse they could offer to avoid too much bad reaction.

How much would you buy and where?

I would buy an additional 25 points at BLT.

I wonder how sales are going? What was their time frame to sell out?

I would most likely add another 25-35 BLT points this summer. I don't want to finance so I didn't get all that I would ultimately want when I added on.

Just curious - what has changed in the past month since the minimum purchase was 25 points until that time? DVD did announce the 100 point minimum in advance and small add-ons were certainly available to all who wanted them thru January 15. Has a month made a difference?

I'd like to be able to buy another small contract when the money pot refills.:rotfl:

In our case, it was because we want to pay cash and wanted to wait until taxes were done and a couple of other financial matters addressed before we laid out the cash. It would probably be at least summer or fall before we'd be ready to take the plunge.

Yes, the new 2010 points chart.

Where do you get these "money pots"? I need at least a couple of them!!:rotfl:

Seriously, I am one who, although ticked off at them right now bcuz of the 2010 point charts would like to have the ABILITY to buy less than 100 points at BLT if my finances ever improve again. I think they were smoking something funny to raise the price AND the add-on size before people got a chance to do their taxes etc. I think they blew it with the economy & their timing. But whatever. It's a done deal now & I don't think they'll turn back time. They would almost have to admit to screwing up.

We can't afford to shell out any money right now for anything other than necessities. I'm sure we're not alone. So by DVC making it a "now or never" purchase before the increases, they lost out on a whole set of owners with BLT addonitis. Those of us who have to be prudent in this economy had to decide between what we WISHED we could do and the reality of what we COULD do and stay within our means. There's a certain percentage of us that they will never get back if the minimum stays at 100 points for add-ons. That is apparently irrelevant to their bottom line tho.

It would be nice to think that there was hope down the line for a 50-75 point minimum add-on. But I don't think they really care if we're happy about it or not.

I doubt DVC is losing money on this proposition. It's more likely they were losing money on the smaller add ons. I'd guess the point where DVC makes enough to justify the sale is somewhere at around 50 points for a resort you already own but more in the 100 pt range for resorts you don't own. I'd figure that allowing 100 pt buy ins for new members is a loss leader. Regardless, they will make more on 100 pt add ons than on four 25 pt add ons. In addition it allows them to streamline their staff and system to a smaller but more efficient sales force. Thus if you want to make money the focal point, this thread will likely do the opposite from DVD's standpoint.

For us it has made a huge difference!

We currently live in Nebraska, thanks to the USAF, and it is one of two states that DVC is not registered in (Hawaii is the other, but that will soon change.) Because of this, we can not legally purchase any points through the mail, over the phone, etc. We have to do it in person in Florida, California or Chicago. We had planned on adding on a 50 point BLT contract during our April trip but that is no longer an option and 100 points is out of our comfort zone.

Oh well, maybe we were destined for a 50 point add on at VWL! :thumbsup2

After booking our first BLT stay last week, I've realized I need an add-on of 51 points... would really LOVE a bigger add-on, but would rather not finance. I don't like the 100-point minimum at all! :sad2:

IMHO I think add-ons for members who already have BLT as their home resort with 160 points or more...SHOULD be able to buy more at 25 point increments and to offset the problems they could make these "merge" with the existing BLT contract and never allow a breakup into anything smaller than say 100 points if someone opts to do that later

There really isn't any way to do this once it's closed because this is deed driven. The only option would be to take back the 160 and generate a new contract and deed for the 185 (for example) points contract. They will not do this once the deed has been generated on the 160 pt contract. That is why some of us strongly recommended people early in their process to call ASAP and see what could be done because any time that passed decreased the likelihood of doing something along these lines successfully.

Exactly my thoughts! We purchased enough points to stay a week during the originally scheduled opening date. Moving the opening up to August 4th really hosed my plans. Changing from Adventure to Magic season, and all of a sudden I'm short points! I know, before anyone says anything, we didn't HAVE to stay there opening day. But we want to!:goodvibes

50 more points would be great. 100, just a bit too much to spend in this economy right now. I'm afraid our addonitis is going to be suspended for a while...
