Bring back the good o' days, Things ..........

Remember Dancing Bear on Captain Kangaroo? He used to make me cry because I was so sad that he couldn't talk. His mouth had no opening.:lmao:....just a big old smile.

On My Three Sons, there was a 2 part episode where Ernie ran away....maybe it was Chip, but I think it was Ernie. My mother told me I fretted the entire week until he came home safely.

Regarding Bonanza, I remember my parents saying the last thing a girl should do is marry a Cartwright, because it was a guaranteed way to die fast. :rotfl2: They barely lasted an episode before they all met tragic deaths......Even all three of Papa Ben's wives. :scared:

My father was a Western junkie. We also watched The Virginian....James Drury was sooo handsome..., High Chaparral, Big Valley, The Guns of Will Sonnet, The Wild West and pretty much any other western on TV. Gunsmoke was a given.

Has anyone mentioned The Courtship of Eddie's Father?

Oh I had forgotten Dancing Bear. He just seemed so loveable like you just wanted to give him a big hug.

And as I have stated before I was in love with Chip from MY THREE SONS. Even named my DS after him.

We also watched all the Westerns. Rawhide was a favorite. That was the one Clint Eastwood was on as Rowdy (sp) Yates wasn't it? Come to think of it I was in love with him too. Please forgive me Chip. lol

Oh little playmate come out and play with me was the tune we did those hand smakcing games too!

You know, DD and I went to the Post Office, and there were two little kids doing "Miss Mary Mack" and I was so shocked that they still sang that song!

When we got home, DD wanted me to teach it to her, so I did. But the only other one I remembered was the "dirty" version of Miss Lucy...

Miss Lucy had a steamboat
The steamboat had a bell
Miss Lucy went to heaven and the
Steamboat went to...

Needless to say, I didn't teach that one to her. :lmao:

Great! Now I'll be singing the Rawhide song in my head all day!:rotfl: Rolling, Rolling, Rolling, Get them doggies rolling...Get them doggies moving...Rawhhhhide...

Picture Pages with Bill Cosby...does anyone else remember that one? I LOVED it so much that my mom actually ordered the stuff so I could do them along with him. :) I wanted the squeaky pen thing he used too though. LOL

Anyone else remember TopCat, Hong Kong Phooey, Mighy Mouse,Underdog???

Freddy Frog, Henrietta Hippo and I forget the owl. One of the "hosts" name was Doug - same as my brother!!!

I LOVED my Romper Stompers!!! I thought I remembered my "strings" as being red??? :confused3 Foggy memory or maybe they made different colors!

Yes that's right...I remember Doug...I also think I might have a had a bit of a crush:laughing:how pathetic...and I think the owls name was Charlie the more I think about it!

Oh, yeah! My DD loves those songs! Unfortunately, she does know the bad version of the Miss Lucy song, too! Remember this one (for jumping rope)?

Not last night, but the night before,
twenty-four robbers came knocking at my door.
As I ran out, they ran in.
I asked them what they wanted and this is what they said,
"Icky-wacky soda cracker, Icky wacky-doo.
Icky-wacky soday cracker, out goes you!"

Did anyone every play 7-Up with a ball that you bounce on a wall in different ways without messing up? My friend and I used to play that for hours when we were kids! We did it with the one arm, eyes closed, spinning in a circle --- every variation we could think of.

Picture pages, picture pages, lotsa of fun with picture pages. Lotsa fun with crayons and with pencils. Start your day with picture pages fill your day with picture pages. Time to watch Bill Cosby do a picture page with you.

Nope never heard of it ;)

I don't know if kids still do this one to figure out who is "it"....

"My mother and your mother were out hanging clothes.
My mother punched your mother right in the nose.
What color was the blood?

Red. R-E-D spells red and you are IT!"

My mom always yelled at me for using that one...she thought it was rude! :lmao:

You were so lucky. I always wanted to color along, but I did not have the stuff.
I may be wrong, but wasn't the cartoon with a kid named Simon on Picture Pages too. "Well you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true..."

I don't think Simon was on Picture Pages. I remember him having his own show. He was British and he loved all his "drawrings"

I have wondered about Simon myself, I think he was on some of the later Captain Kangaroo episodes. Didn't Mike Myers did a take off skit of him on SNL as well, he always drew in the bathtub?
