Vent ahead -
I am in my cousin's wedding next month. I am very honored to have been chosen to be in her wedding party. I like her very much. Apparently the feeling is not mutual or she would not have insisted on dressing five adult women in pastel purple with ivory trim
(I digress.) Originally her only request was that we all wear no pantyhose because she was insisting on open-toed shoes. OKAY - really - everyone should choose their own style shoe because not everyone is comfortable in the same thing. Now, she wants everyone in an open-toed dyed to match peau-de-soie shoe. I have searched high and low - they don't sell them anywhere near me anymore. UUGGHH.
I also must have my wrap fashioned (altered $$$) in such a way so as to match all of the other bridesmaids. Ummm - does over my forearm not match? We all must also have a bustle put on our dresses (yes, the pastel dress needs a bustle.) She'd also like me to not look "too busty". HELLO! I am a DD and you are putting me in a stapless gown - if the ladies make an appearance it's your own fault!!!
I am attending a second shower for her in a few weeks. It, like the first shower, is in NY where the bride lives. I understand completely. I will drive myself and my older dd (the flowergirl) to NY - again. Then the wedding is in 6 weeks - I will drive to NY - again. On top of everything else I am currently starving myself a la Slim Fast to be sure I look my best in my pastel purple gown. JUST SHOOT ME! Perhaps my current starvation is leading me to be a little cranky?
By the time this is over I will have spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500. 1500 - that's more than the amount of calories I'm allowing myself to consume in preparation for this blessed event.
Vent over- thanks for reading.
