I just started posting here...my daughter is looking to book a WDW wedding she called a couple days ago 18 months out. Today she missed a call but received an e-mail from someone at Disney saying and this is what she is freaking out about.....something about you can book a TENTITIVE (sp?) date 12 months out, but you will get a confirmend date at like 8 months out???? Is this correct and how many if anyone here have not gotten the date they wanted? They are looking for a Saturday in January 2010. HELP!!!!!!

yes, some wedding locations allow you to secure at 12 months out, and some at 8 months out. It all depends on the location. Some brides have not gotten the date/time/location they wanted. But remember...a location can host several weddings in one day. More often than not brides get the date they wanted. We had to wait 6 months with anticipation to get our wedding date..and we were NOT flexible with the date...luckily we got it. Just tell her to breath. She will be in good hands with Disney!

I dont think there is a reason to freak out yet. It depends on where she wants it and also the time of year. January is not as popular as the summer so you should be safe there. The time line is as follows, park ceremony sites are booked 12 months out and most other locations are 8 months. However I'm not sure if they do anything special time lines for escape brides as I am a wishes one.

No need to freak out.

January is not a typically busy month for weddings. She may get the location but have to be flexible on the time. If it was around summer or Oct I would be worried. Don't stress overly. Tell her it is all going to get sorted out perfectly!

It depends on what ceremony and reception locations she wants. Theme park locations, Ariel's (which will be closed by 2010) and Atlantic Dance Hall can be confirmed at 12 months out. All others can't be confirmed til 8 months out. However, most people have no trouble getting the date they want. Only special days, like New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, or 8/8/08, book up.

If someone else *does* want the same date, time, and location, your daughter and that person will be put in a lottery to see who gets it. But you may be able to get the venues you want just by changing the time you want them. Don't sweat it! ;)

Just a note on that....I booked Sea Breeze Point and Ariel's at 12 months out. :thumbsup2 They aren't park locations.

Ariel's is the other location that can be booked 12 months out, but it won't be open anymore in 2010 :sad1:

The four outdoor resort wedding sites (Sea Breeze Point, Sunrise Terrace, Sunset Pointe, and Yacht Club Gazebo) can be booked at 12 months, but if you're doing a Wishes reception any place other than Ariel's, Atlantic Dance Hall or the theme parks, you have to wait until 8 months to confirm both the ceremony and reception sites.

I booked for May and had to reschedule twice when my time conflicted with first a conference and then another wedding. My wedding day was two weeks later than the time I'd first wanted. So it does sometimes happen that you get bumped. (I was set on my locations, I could have kept my original date had I been willing to relocate.)

I am hoping to get married in December 2009 and I called exactly 18 months before and they were able to tentativly hold the date and locations for me but won't be confirmed and booked until 12 months out. We are doing the WP and CG (Napa Room).

I wouldn't worry about it. She should be fine as someone mentioned before January isn't a busy month. Hope that helps! :)

I'm getting married in January and I had no trouble at all getting the date I wanted. I did, however, have to be flexible with my time. But, it worked out wonderfully!

More support coming to you and positive vibes - I booked the Yacht Club Gazebo in the September for a May (very busy month) wedding and got my date and time no worries - so like the rest of the crew have stated - pretty sure that your daughter will get her location {hug}

Is October busy?

You've got me freaking out now! :scared1:

From what I heard October is one of their busiest months for weddings. Getting your date really depends on when your date is. If you stay away from weekends you should be ok. I got my date with no problem but I am getting married on a Monday.

I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck!

Wow I never knew that!

We're looking at midweek anyway, so hopefully all should be well!

Midweek should be fine. You shouldn't have any problems. When you call to book though they will ask you for 2 other days and or times just incase your first time is taken.

That shouldn't be a problem for us, we have a whole week where everyone we need will be at WDW, but obviously we have our ideal day to fit other events / tux fittings etc around.

I just hope I'm not in competition with a Wishes bride, coz I'm sure they'll get priority :sad1:

We were married in October 2006 on a weekend and because of our locations (YCG and MGM) had no problems with our dates or times.
