My friend sent me pics from their recent trip to WDW and her and her husband were wearing those rediculous Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears. It was their anniversary- they weren't even there on a honeymoon! I had to restrain myself from commenting on how dorky they looked in ALL the pictures. I guess when they have kids they can dress them up instead of each other.
Just had to get it off my chest....
:rotfl2: :rolleyes1

It's cute for a couple of hours (for a couple that just got married), but with the heat (I have alot of hair) I couldn't see wearing them or trying to keep them on my head through the rides, walking, etc. for that long. I'd have to say for the anniversary...ehh just get an anniversary cake.

My honest opinion - yeah, I think they're dorky, but most things Disney are dorky, and I guess I'm just a big dork! Every time I see a couple with the bride and groom hat and veil, I just smile from ear to ear (no pun intended!). I think it's sweet, but then again, I'm the middle-aged dork wearing the Tink hat.

Sure they look silly, but it is their wedding anniversary! We wore them on our wedding/honeymoon in WDW. We knew it looked funny but we had just gotten married. Don't the regular mouse ears look just as silly or those birthday cake hats?
Disney World is a place where people shouldn't be judged. Everyone there is there to have fun.
If I were to judge, it would be other things I won't name, not things that Disney sells in the parks for people to wear in the parks.
I'm not on the defence because we wore them on our weddingmoon. We chose not to wear them on our anniversary trip because they were quite cumbersome.
There are a great many other things people walk around with in the parks that look a million time worse, does it really matter?

for the anniversary i agree get the cake! but we were married out there last year and wore the ears with pride..we may have looked ridiculous but we were in love and soo happy so we didn't care what anyone else may have thought...It's fun and we had fun.

well we just aren't the mickey ear types, nor the matching shirt types, nor wearing any of the wdw character hats types..guess we would rather go incognito ( hehe)

For a honeymoon I think they're fantastic! But for an anniversary? Well to me that's like wearing a pin that says it's your birthdy a month afterward.

Dh and I wore them on our Disneymoon. We rather enjoyed it. We only wore them to PI for what we thought would be an hour or so but... Because of the "ears" we got FREE drinks all night!!! Needless to say we kept them on for the night.

I say wear them whenever :sunny:
We're hoping to re-new our wedding vows next year and, if DD insisted, who are we to argue.......

That is what is all about!
Having fun!
Living that childhood innocence when you CAN Forget you are a grownup for just a little while.
I love seeing people young and older having fun at Disney.
I know that is what WALT wanted.
Glad you had fun!

I hope everyone who goes to Disney wears something to make them happy, Disney , shirts ,hats, socks , watches, whatever ,It makes me smile also to see people acting like kids again. :cool1:

I say where them for an anniversary or honeymoon. Disney is about celebrating. Oh, my birthday falls during a time of the year when I can't go to WDW, so I am going two weeks later and I plan to wear the button. I don't think that I am "cheating"

If we all wore only things that no one else thought was dorky, we would just have to walk around naked. Oh wait, that wouldn't work either! :rotfl:

Seriously though, I think WDW is the perfect place to be a little extra silly or dorky. Goodness knows, I probably looked dorky dancing in front of the masks opposite Aladdin last year, but I had a blast! If your friends had fun and enjoyed their ears on their anniversary, good for them.

To the OP, I'm so glad that you were able to restrain yourself and not make your friends feel badly about their ears. Everybody enjoy--that's what WDW is all about.

Well, my husband I didn't get to take a honeymoon in Feb 2005, so I figured this year we would go to Disneyworld for our vacation, which I'm planning to take during our 1 year annv anyways, so I thought about getting the hats, I think they're cute and I want to be a kid again, especially with my husband... as far as "the cake" thing, I had two cakes and both of them are now gone because of hurricane katrina, I tried to keep them both on ice as long as I could but it didn't help. I am sad about that, but I figure it's more reason to make sure I have fun on my honeymoon and make the best of things. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I enjoy wearing my Goofy Hat, My Mouse ears, My princess ears....and I will enjoy wearing my Golden Mouse's ears. It's Disney, I'm on vacation! :cool1: And remember, I may look like a dork to you, but what makes you think you don't look like a dork to others? I know it's your opinion, and it was nice of you not to tell your friends that you thought they looked like dorks. But honestly where else in this world (besides the other Disney theme parks) can adults wear fun things and love every minute of it? Disney is ageless, I know when my whole family goes we all act like kids, and I'm the baby (38).

If you can't be silly and dorky and carefree at WDW, where can you? Yes, I realize they look dorky, but it's part of the magic of Disney and I, personally, think it's ok to wear them, regardless of age. Anniversary, honeymoon or wedding, it's ok with me.

You know, we wore the ears for our entire honeymoon and I *LOVE* our pictures with them. I had a headband, not a hat, so it wasn't uncomfortable. He wore his hat 2 of 4 days in the parks because it was too small. Those hats will set aside our honeymoon pictures from any future trip pictures. I don't care what you think...It was fun and I was happy and so was he. I think it's great that they wore them for their anniversary if that's what they wanted to do.

I took a picture of a young couple with the bride and groom ears on because I thought they were just so cute. I don't know if I could stand to wear them but awwww they are cute.

I only wish they had them when we honeymooned at Disney World...that was 16 years ago. We would have worn them proudly!

SimonV and I got married in Orlando and treated our families to a few days at Disney before and after the wedding. My mother had Cinderella and Prince Charming shirts made for all of us to wear in the parks after the wedding, and while I thought it might feel strange (I tend to be rather private) it really was a great deal of fun! I still wear my shirt into the parks to this day (and still get comments on how cute it is).

Somehow, things that may be dorky anywhere else are fun at Disney. I'm not sure I would personally wear the ears, but I'll bet they're just fun while you're there and don't feel dorky at all.

Just be happy for her. She's happy. He's happy. Isn't that what we would wish for our friends? :)
