bride and groom ears- your honest opinion

We saw something really funny last year at LTT while we were eating. A couple was seated next to us and they were wearing the bride and groom ears. The bride looked to be in her early 20s. The groom looked to be in his early 80s! Of course we didn't show it but we were hysterical! I made like I was taking a picture of DD and instead got a picture of the bride and her "grandfather instead! LOL!

I had to restrain myself from commenting on how dorky they looked in ALL the pictures. I guess when they have kids they can dress them up instead of each other.
Just had to get it off my chest....
:rotfl2: :rolleyes1

I agree. Those couples look really stupid. Sorry, honeymoon or not, you look ridiculous! :rotfl2:

My friend sent me pics from their recent trip to WDW and her and her husband were wearing those rediculous Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears. It was their anniversary- they weren't even there on a honeymoon! I had to restrain myself from commenting on how dorky they looked in ALL the pictures. I guess when they have kids they can dress them up instead of each other.

My DH and I went on our Honeymoon to WDW in May and the first thing we did the first day we were there is buy our Mickey/Minnie Bride/groom ears. We had a blast with them! We got so much attention from everyone, especially cast members! In fact, I say definitely wear them when you're celebrating like that, b/c they hooked us up pretty darn good, bringing us to the front of many lines after congratulating us. And on Splash Mt they even gave us our own boat when they saw our ears and there was a long line behind us!
Disney in general is pretty cheesy and dorky so therefore, in my opinion, so is everything associated with it. And that's why I love it! I love going to Disney and seeing people wearing all kinds of Goofy hats and Mickey ears and just having fun with it. B/c everyone knows, once you go home, it's back to the real world. :earsgirl:

I think they are cute, and a great way to celebrate a new marriage, anniversary or whatever you want with them. It is your vacation have a blast.... :sunny:

Many may think that my special mickey earrings and necklace I wear at WDW look dorky or that people with lanyards and pins on them look dorky walking around the parks. Who cares I never care what people think anymore, please yourself and wear what is fun for you ..... :sunny:

I think the ears are cute for honeymooners but it seems ridiculous for others to wear them. As someone else said, that's as bad as wearing a birthday badge for a birthday weeks earlier or later.

I want to know how all the women get their men to wear the groom hats? I've been married for 7 years and there would be NO way I could get my DH to wear that. I have a hard enough time with him with letting my boys have matching outfits!!! But I love him anyway!!!

Are they dorky? Yes and especially if you wear anything like that outside of Disney, but when in Disney I say go for it!!! It is the only place I would wear such things. I always smile when I pass people looking "dorky" at Disney and isn't that what vacations are all about?? There is plenty of time to be serious all year. Now excuse me while I go get my gold mickey ears to wear while on the dis!!

I don't think the are ridiculous or silly. I guess to each their own...

I saw quite a few on our recent trip. Mostly at epcot. Some of these couples didn't look much older than 16. I got the impression from one couple, after overhearing a bit of their conversation, they were wearing them to get free stuff and some booze. Don't think they were married. :confused3

Actually my sis and her husband both wore them on their honeymoon this past May. When I saw the pics I was pleasantly surprised. It made me happy to see 2 people so in love not take themselves so seriously. It's like they cast caution to the wind and succumbed to their inner child. I absolutely loved those pictures. Not to mention, my sis said when they wore them they got super hooked up by the staff! I mean, extra cheery smiles and enthusiasm, going to the front of the lines, and even free desserts! So I say Go For It!

:wizard: :pug:

I love them, yeah they might look silly but who cares, my husband and I went to WDW on our honeymoon and we wore the hats we got so much Disney Magic, the CMs gave us free fass passes and CRT gave us wine glasses and I got a few pins it was great, everyone told us happy anniversary. I would reccomend them.

Hey Disney Wirlie Girlie! When did you put your post up? I just finished writing the same exact thing about you guys, look above! How funny!

:wizard: :pug:

Totally lame, IMO. We went to DLP on our honeymoon, and back to WDW for our first anniversary, and I wore my Minnie bride pin. Much more discreet!!

Although if my DH insisted......... :lovestruc

I think you're being a bit harsh and like others have said I am gald you "restrained" yourself from laughing....that's not what friends are for....I can't believe what your friends did on their trip bothered you that much but anyway, to answer your question, no I don't think they are dorky for honeymooners....I love seeing couples with them on and wishing them luck and congratulations....DH and I wore them on our honeymoon last year and had a blast......we didn't wear them because we were looking for free things but we ended up with some pretty special things happening to us, including being chosen as grand marshals in the MGM parade.....to each his own....I try not to pass judgement on people trying to celebrate special occasions.....I only hope they are having fun and enjoying their special trip :flower:

I don't think I'd ever wear the bride ears myself, but I like seeing the people who do and always congratulate them! They always look so happy! Yeah, maybe it's a tad dorky, but alot of people (not anyone here of course!) think it's dorky to go Disney World on your honeymoon, so what are you gonna do?

I will say I saw one couple with the bride ears and the top hat groom ears and it was really hot and the poor groom was just dripping with that black hat on! I got the impression the bride wouldn't let him take it off, I felt sorry for him.

we'll be one of those dorks this march when we get married at wdw this march, i plan on talking fi into wearing it least one day. :earboy2:

We'll be there on our honeymoon in three weeks, and neither of us can bring ourselves to wear the ears. I won't even have my real veil on for more than twenty minutes at our ceremony, and the tulle would get really annoying, wouldn't it? I think we'll be wearing the (small) buttons and that's it, but if we see others wearing the ears & hat, we'll be sure to extend our congratulations!

I think adults wearing any kind of disney ears or hats unless it's a baseball cap or something looks totally stupid and ridiculous, but at the same time I don't care enough to look twice at someone if they are wearing them. If they want to wear it good for them, I never would though.

I have always commented to my sis, my niece or my DH that I could picture my DH nor my sister's DH wearing these if we went to Disney for our honeymoon (which we didn't) and they all agree they couldn't see them wearing one. Although I must say this last time we were there my DH just HAD to have a Stitch Light Chaser and I got the pink ear headband that lights up - would we wear or play with these things outside Disney - well maybe - my DH does like his Stitch toy!! But like I told my DH where else can you act like this - we had fun - people who saw us on the bus laughed - not at us but kinda like they thought it was cute. I think that is what Disney is all about!! I am glad you didn't laugh at your friend.

I completely agree with you. I think they are hideous. The buttons are ok and some of the shirts (if they're tastefully done). I just think the ears look so dorky. We were watching a wedding show about WDW and there was a couple wearing them on the show and my DFi looks at me and says "Please God say we are not wearing those" (We're planning on getting married at WDW). I should've messed with him and told him yes, they were mandatory. :)
